“Great value and very clean”

My wife and I spent 4 days in the San Diego area and this Marriott was our home base. No hassle free parking and easy access to the surrounding areas. The hotel offers shuttle services but we feel that having a car is necessary. The rooms were modest in size but offered all conveniences and were very clean. The pool area was comfortable and there is an adjacent park with areas for walking or jogging. There are a few casual restaurants and food markets within walking distance. This Marriott is a great value versus the pricier downtown alternatives. We would highly recommend.

Stayed at this hotel on business. Location was convenient to airport and the places I had to get to. Newer building in good condition, but elevator was painfully slow.

Also painfully slow was the internet access, with many drop-outs. 20th century technology, I suspect. Good thing it was free.

Did not get a chance to use restaurant; it was closed the only night of my stay that I was going to use it. Not too far from Little Italy, so it worked out OK.

We stay at a lot of Marriotts but had not considered this one as when we are in San Diego it is usually for a conference. Their airport shuttle runs on the half hour from 4:30 AM but they will come get you if you call! It is located in a very clean, safe urban park-like setting, 1 long mile from the airport, complete with Subway, Starbucks, a sushi place, other hotels (Hilton) etc. all clean and quiet. As there is a city noise restriction in place the sound of planes during sleeping hours is minimal. I stayed two nights and never heard anyone in adjoining rooms. The hotel is very modern, staff were friendly even at 3:30 AM departure, there is a free business center, free internet, free parking, bar, & restaurant.

The suroundings were great gorgeous and pleasant great walking and hiking trail along the river. BUT...very noisy with not only planes but plumbing fixtures constantly all night long.
T-Mobile service inside hotel practically non-existant. Internet very inconsistent and flakey. This is extremely important to us and one of the reasons we chose a courtyard to stay at... The price for this courtyard was higher than the further from the airport courtyards but we had no car for this 2 day stay. There were stores and restaurants within walking distance.

We stayed here for two nights in Dec 2010 while we were visiting San Diego - wished we stayed longer! The hotel is situated in an old Navy training facility and the place (Liberty Station) felt like a nice little small town. There's a Safeway closeby if we need to grab water and snacks before we head back to the hotel. We asked for a room with a view of the water and we woke up to sunny blue skies and the ocean - perfection! The hotel is very clean and well kept. We asked for dining recommendations around town from the staff and they are very helpful. There's a nice pool and jacuzzi but too bad the December weather is too chilly for us to enjoy the facilities. Parking is no issue and free. If we visit San Diego in the future we will definitely stay here again.

Just got back from a great 4 night stay in san Diego.

This hotel is very modern, clean, efficient and affordable. The Property is very well kept and the rooms and public areas are fairly spotless. Kudos to the cleaning staff.

Highspeed internet (Wireless and Wired ) is complimentary. YOu got a nice 1 shot coffee maker in the suit, nice LCD TV, and nice bathroom.

My only gripe was the thinness of the walls. And no I am not speaking about Airplane Noise (Which you do hear but you quickly learn to ignore). I meant the room to room discussions you can easily hear. I stay around 60-100 nights/year in hotels and this was easily the thinnest walls I've ever heard. It was very strange. The first night my wife and I had essentially front row seats to a lady discussing her failing marriage on the phone. Wow. clear as a bell!

Other then that, nice place to stay. Lots of restaurants nearby, Park beside the hotel, VONS grocery store a few block away.

A vehicle is a must BTW!

we (myself and early 20 year old daughters) stayed in this hotel for 11 nights over christmas and the new year.

the friendly welcome we received after a long flight from london and then a drive from los angeles to san diego set the tone for what was to be a great stay. the highest praise I can give of this hotel is that when we were out in san diego, or travelling to L.A. or overnighting in Vegas, the phrase we all used about returning to this Hotel was "let's go home".

I believe that the first and major measure of a hotel (above location and price) is cleanliness; this hotel was spotlessly clean; the bedrooms, pool area, restaurant and lobby were immaculate; the towels and bedding were crisp, clean and comfortable. we were given two interconnecting rooms on the second floor with a good view over the pool and bay. the rooms were spacious, airy and the bathrooms were a good size, with good toiletries and plenty of towels. the rooms were cleaned every day (apart from christmas day when just the bins were emptied).

the hotel is a very close to the airport (at most a five minute drive) and there is a frequent free shuttle to the airport; we used this when we over nighted in vegas and on our return we contacted the hotel to send the shuttle to collect us; this worked brilliantly and the shuttle was waiting for us as we exited the terminal. the airport is much busier than I thought and there was some noise in our bedrooms from planes taking off and landing, but no real inconvenience or disturbance

the hotel is on a modern complex, alongside a hilton,a number of restaurants, a starbucks and a massage spa ( Envy - $50 for a full hour long massage - brilliant); the only thing lacking was a convenience store on the site. however, there is a very small mini shop behind the reception in the hotel. there is loads of free parking (the internet is also free as is use of the desktop computers in the lobby where we printed our airline boarding cards). the hotel also accepted a couple of faxes on our behalf (again free of charge; I recall being charged $20 for a fax at the bellagio several years ago!)

location of the hotel is good; a couple of minutes from the airport and maybe double that to down town san diego and the midway. the drive to the fantastic zoo (where my kids fed the giraffes; available every day between 12pm and 1 pm- unmissable) took 10 - 15 mins. the price of our stay at the hotel was ok - we paid maybe a little more than we expected, but when you add on free parking ( another hotel we considered down town wanted $30 per night to park) and the free internet, the price was about right.

there are no safes in the room, but I used a safe box behind reception for the duration of our stay (although there wasn't much left to put into it towards the end of the holiday), and again this was free of charge. I don't get the impression that in the san diego we saw petty crime is a problem.

we ate in the hotel a couple of nights; the restaurant had virtually shut down other than for breakfast over the holiday season, but the restricted menu and the food we chose from it and ate in the bar area were pretty good and reasonably priced

a holiday in san diego in the winter is the epitome of cool, and the laid back friendly tone of this beautifully clean hotel means that we'll be more than happy to "come home" here again.
