This is our third visit to Cobblestone Cottage, a wonderful vintage home in Mission Hills. Joan Crone has filled the rooms with beautiful antiques, and book shelves are filled with a vast collection of books from seemingly all topics. The home is on a quiet street out of the hurley burley, but within walking distance to good restauants and of course "book stores".

Breakfast is served in elegant old china with fresh fruit always available.

Quiet, restful, but close to all the fun of SanDiego.

We will come back!

Thank you, Joan,

Wendell C. Speers and Nicola Mendenhall

We had a lovely time at Crone's Cobblestone Cottage. For 5 nights it was me and my six year old and my husband joined us for the last two nights. Joan, the innkeeper, was more than willing to accomodate our situation.

This craftsman bungalow is well maintained and very nicely located. The porch swing was a wonderful place to wind down in the evening. As one might expect for a BandB, there wasn't a TV in the room (oh how peaceful) but there was one in the family room. And there were loads of books if you could keep your eyes open for a little before bedtime reading.

It is very conveniently located for walking to restaurants, a short drive (less than 5 minutes to Old Town), and very close to Sea World and Balboa Park. And there's lots of trendy shopping closeby.

Joan was a most gracious and helpful innkeeper. She offered driving directions and was happy to recommend restaurants. She even entertained my daughter so I could finish my breakfast.

Our intention is return to San Diego next year for the same event and we wouldn't stay anywhere else.

This is a great place to be for a weekend, and I really wish we could have remained for a week. Wonderful setting, great location, and a fantastic host. They have a website you can see images of the place as well, at http://www.**************If you want to be near downtown, but not in it, and enjoy peace and quiet, while remaining a block or two away from civilalization, this is the place to go to.

We chose Crone's Cobblestone Cottage from a selection of B&B's on the internet. We are great fans of authentic Arts & Crafts architecture especially old California bungalows. Crone's is a 1913 historic bungalow in top condition. There are two bedrooms available. It is very comfortable and decorated with objects, wall papers, etc. in keeping with the bungalow style. Proprietress, Joan Crone is a very gracious person, very welcoming and is very involved with book art - hand binding books and journals. On our last night we found a lovely handmade box on our pillow with chocolates inside, a very personal and thoughtful gift. Breakfast was fine and the bed very comfortable. There is a cozy sitting room with many books, tv and phone available. It's a very peaceful place and we would definitely go back.
