“Well located for walking and great experience!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 June 2013

Ben and Doug at The Keating House helped make this a wonderful experience. The Keating house is a charming B&B with the perfect location for people that like to walk. It is perfectly located so that my wife and I could walk to places like Balboa Park, Little Italy and the Harbor. We also appreciated their being so accommodating, helpful, friendly and for cooking such a great breakfast. This was a cozy & pleasant experience for my wife and I to enjoy some time together.

Me and my girlfriend decided to try something different for memorial weekend. We had never stayed at a bed and breakfast and this was the most nostalgic way to experience San Diego. The inn keepers Ben & Doug are the reason this house is so inviting. The house itself is a vintage 1800's home extremely cozy and well maintained. Ben and Doug have mastered the details when it comes to making you feel as if you have been living here forever. The breakfasts are prepared fresh and the absence of tv's and computers invited great conversations with other guests and the inn-keepers. If you are looking to getaway and experience San Diego in a new way I would not stay anywhere else.

Ben and Doug really made the trip worthwhile. Not only are they great guys who are easy to talk to and personable, but their advice for restaurants and things to do was right on the money every time! Near san diego zoo, balboa park - within walking distance. Even changed plans at the end of the trip to go back to Keating House. Would go back without question.

One of the best B&B we experienced. The house is well kept and with its Vintage design you feel very cosy. Rooms are very clean and designed with real soul up to the most little details. Everything with the taste of an artist. Even the breakfast is unique and delicious. The two guys in charge are friendly and so helpful with getting around in SD. Keating House is a place to come back and enjoy the good taste again.

We stayed here for two nights and the Keating House was lovely. When we arrived a bit early one of the owners sat down with us and a map of the city and gave us tons of suggestions for entertainment while we were there. Breakfast was also quite good both mornings. We wanted to extend our stay but they were booked up, so we were only there the two nights.

The room itself was nice, if a bit small. There was no TV nor much room to sit in the room itself, but there were common areas in the main house if you needed the space. We didn't take advantage of that but it was quite nice. We stayed int he back house and the room had a small balcony overlooking the back yard and driveway. Not terribly scenic but it let a lot of light and air in when open. The bed was a little lumpy and we tended to roll toward the center anytime you moved, but it wasn't terrible. The main house and room were very clean and tidy.

This is a great place if you are going to spend a lot of time out and about in the city or nearby, I would highly recommend it. If you're looking for a place to spend a lot of time in your room, I would look elsewhere.

The wife and I stayed at Keating House for a few days during March 2013. Compared to the "el cheapo"-motels we usually choose, this was like getting home. This place is cosy, very personal and has an interesting history dating back to the early days of San Diego. The house is situated in a quiet and safe neighborhood close to Little Italy and one of the San Diego classics - The Hob Nob Hill restaurant. Ben and Doug were very kind and hospitable, and the breakfast was everything as good as the other reviewers say. They even asked about food allergies - much appreciated. Some reviews mention noise from airplanes landing at SAN being a problem. Well, this is a big city, I usually sleep light, and I didn't have any trouble sleeping at all. Close to Balboa Park and all the classic places downtown, you won't be spending a fortune on taxi fares. We'll definitely be back.

Just got back from San Diego where we stayed at the Keating House for six days. Our hosts Ben and Doug were great. They welcomed us to their establishment on our day of arrival and Ben proceeded to tell us where to go for sights, dinner and such. Although we had been to San Diego before, we had not been in this neighborhood. From the Keating House you can just about walk to everywhere downtown. The rooms were very clean and nice. We stayed in the Blue Room. It us rather small, but a heck of a deal. Besides, we did not stay in the room that much. Breakfast was awesome! Fresh fruit, bread and quiche everyday was a great way to start the day. On our last evening, we sat in the parlor with Ben and had some wine and enjoyed Ben's history of the house and surrounding neighborhood. We will be back!
