My family arrived last week in San Diego for a long weekend vacation. We had reservations at a different hotel and upon checking in were disappointed with the condition of the room and the overall property. We received a recommendation to check the Pacific Terrace Hotel. I explained my situation to a friendly hotel guest professional who was able to secure a room right away for four nights and at a great price. It was the last available room they had and we couldn't have been happier with it. Without us even asking, the hotel then upgraded us the remaining three nights to a better room because it became available the following night.

Having a 3 year old and 6 month old makes travelling a challenge in itself. The idea of spending your vacation in a hotel that did not meet your expectations would have been truly disappointing. Pacific Beach staff are friendly, attentive and eager to ensure your stay with them is an enjoyable one. And the location directly overlooking the Pacific is second to none. I would highly recommend this property to anyone traveling to San Diego.

Room Tip: Rooms with a view of the ocean are great for sunsets. Most have terraces but the main floor has ter...

A friend and I stayed here for a visit to San Diego. The location was great because we were in San Diego in twenty minutes but away from the hustle of the city.
The hotel was nicely furnished, everything in good repair. Our room had a mini-kitchen which we liked so we could take leftovers home. The bed was soft and the room was quiet.
The pool area was nice and shaded from the ocean wind, which is chilly in early November. The beach is just across a pedestrian walkway and great restaurants are all within walking distance.
The front desk was very helpful in telling us about coves to visit and helping us get tickets to the zoo in order to avoid the lines there.
The valet parking was also always polite and prompt.
There is a breakfast you have to pay for, which we took advantage of for one morning. Everything was hot and fresh.

Nice room, handsomely redecorated, in a place that somehow seems like an old, average hotel that has undergone a transformation into a bit of a jewel. It overlooks an outdoor pool that in turn overlooks the beach, and the people-watching from the balcony is top notch. The staff was courteous, the location great for wandering around, shopping, drinking and eating. The only thing that was a minor turnoff was that some late night binge drinkers got into the hot tub right below my window after closing hours and proceeded to make enough noise that they had to be ejected by security guards. But it didn't turn me off wanting to return. It's lovely.

Booked in February, arrived in May. 3 MONTHS LATER. We were told "we have good news and bad news - the good news is, you booked a 'no view' room with expedia, but we are going to give you a room with a view. the bad news is, we have to move you after one night."

what??

You mean to tell us that our room wasn't ready and we booked it 3 months prior? Get your sh** together, management. That is terrible.

They made a snide remark about us booking with expedia and then asked us to "be sure to pack our bags up between 11 and 3 so we can move you to a new room".
They didnt apologize, they didnt comp us sh**. We are seasoned travelers, and this was beyond any experience we have ever had.

Second, they asked for my credit card and swiped a charge on it for 150. I cant wait for checkout... since we booked with expedia, it was paid in full before we got here. I am anxious to see if they try to charge us upon checkout tomorrow. something tells me they might...

Long story short - we couldn't unpack our bags because we had to switch rooms after night one of a three night stay that was booked a quarter of a year prior. That is bullstuff. No head's up call or email - nothing. If you book with expedia, beware. They don't like "your kind" of people here, apparently.

Additional bonus - lots of bugs. I have a picture of a glass of wine with 8 fruit flies in it from sitting in our room for 8 hours. I will add it when i can upload it....

Room Tip: Don't book with Expedia.

It's a wonderful location right on the beach. Absolutely beautiful sunsets on the pacific. We stayed on the 3rd floor, rm 309.... I thought, the best for sunsets. The staff was better than great! They gave us lots of sweet attention and beyond. Rachel and Sarah were sweethearts. The room was really nice. The beds were crazy comfortable. Loved having the Keurig coffee maker in room. We had a junior suite. Complimentary glass of wine upon arrival which was perfect! We ordered room service and didn't have to wait very long at all. We didn't eat at the buffet, so can't comment on the food. The pool was a perfect temperature...(heated). I just loved the place and when I return, I will definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Third floor junior suite is my choice.

I can't say enough about this hotel: the location, comfort and service are exemplary. My family had to book several rooms with specific requirements, and the hotel went to great lengths to accommodate us. The stay, from start to finish, was perfect. The service level from the front desk to housekeeping was fantastic. One person in particular should be mentioned. On our last night, we decided to hang out at the tables outside the pool area and enjoy the beautiful weather. It was our great luck that Marty was serving that night. We were so well taken care of. He was attentive and engaging, and he made the evening really special. All of the employees we came into contact with are wonderful, but Marty really stood out as exceptional.

Room Tip: I would recommend 3rd floor rooms if possible. Ocean view is the best, but if there are only partial...

As always our stay at the Pacific Terrace was terrific. We love everything about this hotel. Our only complaint on this stay (and no fault at all of Pacific Terrace) was we got into some tar balls on the beach leaving our feet and sandals a mess. My husband had some problems with the wood railings on the bed as he kept bumping his knees getting in/out.

Room Tip: St. Croix Suite
