Hi, a group of 4 of us went to see the sights down the west coast of the USA and had booked this hotel for what we thought was 2 rooms ( a couple in each) through booking.com. On our late arrival after a 6 hour road trip we arrived to find in fact there was only 1 room booked and that this was usually booked for 2 adults 2 children. As we were going in and out at different times etc this wouldn't be inadequate for our needs and we had paid quite a hefty price for the hotel in the first place.

The reception manager was quite unresponsive and unconcerned that 4 adults were having to share 1 room and ultimately ruined our experience of San Diego. He offered us no other option but to pay for another room at a higher rate than originally booked, taking the total to well over $500 for just one night.

Booking.com had already made this mistake in some of our previous bookings which was recognized by the hotel staff at the other sites and we were subsequently offered another room instantly.

Despite other reviews, if there is any problem, change or alteration to your booking be prepared that they will do very little (or nothing) to fix it (even if it is late into the night!) We had to split up as a group and find a nearby hotel room at a fairer price.

Thanks for nothing Palomar!!! Understanding staff required.

This place has a top notch staff, from the doormen to the desk folks to the cleaning crew. The pool was a nice bonus to start or end the day. The bed was comfy. Gratis coffee/tea in the morning and a happy hour in the later afternoon keeps the wallet nice and full.

This was a wonderful experience. The staff was very friendly and quite helpful with every aspect of our trip. The location was awesome. Walking distance to all the dinning, shopping, clubs and the trolley stop was right there. We even took a day trip to Mexico. The best part for us was the fact that they are the most dog friendly property we have ever stayed at. No extra charge! If you are not a dog person, no problem. It is not like they have over run the place. The parking was expensive. However, there are LOTS of other options for parking nearby, and it was quite nice to be able to go in and out as many times as we wished. They even retrieved some items from our car for us. It was a bit higher than I planned to spend at first, but for what you get, it was worth it. I just wish we would have had time to take advantage of the free happy hour in the afternoon and the spa. Oh well, next time. Overall, I would recommend the Palomar to anyone and we shall return for sure. Thank you for a lovely time.

Room Tip: Corner rooms have balconies. Kind of a nice touch if you like to people watch.

We booked the hotel for our friend's bachelorette party. We aren't the wild and crazy type but wanted something fancy and centrally located. Mike, the concierge, was fantastic. When we reached out to see if the room could be decorated to surprise the bride to be we initially met with some resistance but Mike stepped up and took over and did a fantastic job of decorating, going above and beyond, and making us feel welcome. It's a beautiful property and the Pomegranate Lemonade drink is seriously delicious. Great and memorable stay.

Location good. Room clean but tiny. No room for bag etc bathroom door does not fully cover entrance so you better know whoever you are staying with pretty well. Right in the middle of gas lamp quarter which is good. Bar looked good but we did not use. Did not use pool either.
