I haven't been to a lot of hostels in my life but this experience was amazing. 27dollars per night and being in front of the sea, meeting people from all over the world, that was great. The people working there were nice too and willing to help me for anything.

Great location, Right on the beach.
The rooms very very sandy and basic. - Very Busy, I stayed over 4th July Weekend
Staff were helpful. Not the best but is a a very busy time so i put it down to that.
Bike hire was cheap and good fun.
I would definitely stay again.

Reviews are not great so was a little apprehensive but mates had stayed here before. If you are looking for a quiet private stay then this isn't for you. However I really enjoyed it despite the lack of sleep. Location was amazing straight onto beach. Rooms were average but it's a hostel. The best part was the social area a large wooden veranda were everyone mixed and had a few drinks- people were envious walking passed but it was exclusively for guests. A good mix of lads and girls of all nationalities. The hostel put on an all you can drink for 10 dollars which was a great but messy night. They also gave us a great day in Tijiuana for 25 dollars including return travel which was far better travelling in a group than doing it on your own. Lots of bars shops and restaurants around the hostel. Thanks for a good time

I don't expect much from hostels.. and have always been pleasantly suprised EXCEPT for this hostel.

I met up with some travellers I'd met previously here and they felt the same as me.. except did express my room was far worse than theres.
In my room was a girl working there for summer and she had taken over 3 of the bunks with her crap all over them - leaving me with a bunk next to a hole in the wall right on the party area. Oh and she had sex in the dorm ALL the time.

My dorm had no lock on the door and was therefore used for the bathroom for the party going on with all kinda passing through and yeah some of my things did get pinched.
They charge you to use the lockers, but not only that it's another 25c per subsequent entry.
They charge for internet.
They charge a lot for a hostel to begin with.
They charge $15 for an "all inclusive alcohol party" that was meant to run from 9 until 1am... they ran out of alcohol before 11pm... so I got like 3 beer..... and would not refund.

Wasn't super dirty.. but was hardly clean.

Didn't really meet anyone else travelling much just seemed to be everyone had come over from ireland to work the summer and just get kitted out and smashed 24/7.

I've stayed in a bunch of hostels and have never given any a bad review and never disliked any.. excluding this one.
Ended up changing to USA hostels and super glad I did. Cheaper and better in every way.

Room Tip: Don't get the crappy dorm with no lock on the door "because people kept losing it"...

My friend and I came over to the states to play rugby for three months. Part of coming over including free accomodation but after staying for one night at the banana bungalow we gave that up. We decided that the memories would be so much better if we stayed at the BB, and we were right.
Everybody there wants a good time and is ready to party. The staff help build an amazing atmosphere with deck parties ($10 all you can drink) beer pong and the famous trip to Tijuina. There's always something happening but if you feeling hungover from the night before you can chill on the deck or walk less than 20 steps to the beach.
All in all this is the best place I have ever stayed, it might not be 5 star but the experience certainly is!

Stay at the banana bungalow and embrace the experience you won't forget it!

Best hostel I've ever stayed at, had so much fun. First night was a $10 all you can drink party on the deck, another day we went down to Tijuana. If you want to party this is the best hostel you'll likely ever go to

I've stayed here twice now. I choose it because of price and location.. It's literally right on the beach and is like $35 a night. However, It is definitely a party hostle. Everything is kind of damp and sandy, and most people are drunk. If you plan on sleeping without interruption or having any privacy - don't stay here. But if you're there to have a good time, it's perfect.
