“Beautiful Place to Stay away from the main city”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 December 2013

The hotel room was facing the water and the view was very beautiful. The water was the bay and you were not able to swim in it(there was a warning of illness sign posted). The sitting area in the hotel room was very nice and private. The beds were comfortable and the people were friendly. You definitely need a car or expect to take a taxi. You can walk on the sidewalk around the bay but it's not walking distance to any restaurants. Its very close to sea world. The jacuzzi was outside our room and very close. It was away from the main pool and spa is it was much more intimate and relaxing. The walls are thin and you can hear people in the next room or in the hall often.

A remodeled older property - this Hilton is in good shape for an older property, BUT it comes with a poor layout of the facilities that newer true resorts would have sorted out - for example, there are not convenient walkways from rooms to the restaurant/lounge/pool area, the views are the best you can get from this location BUT the location is very isolated in Sea World parkway so other than what is at the hotel there is nothing else in the immediate area. The worst for me, a frequent business traveler and Diamond level with Hilton, the fees are out of control!!
The resort fee is probably OK in Hawaii (or a true resort with golf, tennis, water, etc), but for this place? Give me a break. Finally, $28 per day for PARKING?? Are you kidding me?? It is just for generating revenue only, they have plenty of room for every guest. Just ridiculous and honestly a reason to look elsewhere next time in San Diego - the fees are not relieved for frequent stayers, what is the point of being a 100+ night per year at Hilton if you are going to gouge me for fees.

We're so happy to have you as a loyal Hilton guest, and we value your time and feedback immensely. While we're glad to have afforded you with a comfortable and enjoyable stay, we're dismayed that our pricing structures left a damper on the experience. We'd love the opportunity to host you again and to discuss this further, and we encourage you to reach out to our team as you plan return travels to the region. With infinite amenities offered on site, we'd love to help you navigate the many offerings that stand us apart as the region's premier resort destination. Many thanks again for being our guest and for lending us this feedback; we'll surely pass it along, and we hope to host you again in the near future.

There aren't a ton of guests at this poorly located (isolated) hotel so perhaps that's why the staff seem to have forgotten about them. Worst was after talking me into using the hotel shuttle to the airport the hotel not only cancelled it but didn't come out to tell any of the guests who were waiting. And good luck getting a cab in the middle of nowhere. Stay downtown.

While we're happy to have had you as our guest, we're disheartened to hear of this miscommunication and the damper it caused on your stay with us. We certainly aim to provide the very best in attentive services to each of our visitors, and it's apparent that we fell short of the mark in this case. We'd love the opportunity to discuss your visit further with you, and we encourage you to reach out to our management team at your next available opportunity. Many thanks again for your stay and feedback; we hope to speak more with you soon.

This is a very nice resort, the staff is friendly, helpful and accommodating. Our complaint to make four circles and not five, is you are tied to only one restaurant and bar on the grounds and nothing close by for variety. We were there for a business 4 day bootcamp and ended up spending much more than we planned for food because there were no options. The food and beverages were very good, don't get me wrong; it just would have been nice to have more variety in food choices.

Room Tip: If you have a choice, choose the water view. Our view was of the city and being from Idaho we would...

This property is in a great location. The lobby is great, but after that, things don't go so well.

The villa rooms are old and have an odd smell to them. Seems like the hotel tried to update them, as the bathrooms are newish, but the rooms still are musty.

Service is iffy, and candidly, for the price of the rooms, and for Hilton Hhonors members, it's insulting this hotel charges $55 in fees PLUS the room.

The value just isn't there. I wouldn't rate this hotel as poor, but it's definitely below average, and represents a poor value when factoring in all of the expenses.

Room Tip: Pick a different Hilton.

Was gone for five weeks and then went back. Nothing changed, the entire staff is still just as great as they were when I checked out after a nine month stay. Only hotel I will stay at when I am in San Diego.

Great Hotel. The service was excellent, and the staff friendly. The room was great, and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel was very close to everything we wanted to do and to the center of San Diego.
