“Nice Property in Need of Rennovations”
Reviewed 12 February 2014

My wife and I stayed at Paradise Point Resort and Spa for a conference. This included our room and use of the meeting rooms with several banquet lunches and dinners. The guest rooms are scattered throughout the property in small one-story buildings. All rooms have outside entrances. The door to our room had a glass insert covered only by a sheer shade, so it didn’t offer as much privacy as we would have liked. Our room was basic and showed some age with a need for some minor cosmetic work (e.g., cracked caulking around the tub, stains on the window shade). There were some other signs of disrepair including a beam that had split and fallen from a roof awning on the building across from us. Despite the cosmetic issues, our room was comfortable and quiet. All other aspects of the property were positive. The landscaping is beautifully done with lots of ponds containing a variety of waterfowl. Although we didn’t use the pools, they appeared to be very well maintained. The restaurants offer relaxing views of the water, and the food and cocktails were tasty. All of our banquet meals were also above average, and the service was attentive. All staff members were friendly and helpful, and everyone greeted us as we walked around the property. The property is large, so you can get plenty of exercise walking to and from your room. The staff uses stretch golf carts to get you to your room at check-in or as needed during inclement weather. You can also park right outside your room if you have a car. Overall we had an enjoyable stay. With some renovations, this could be an excellent resort.

We stayed here for one night and we had a great time! I loved the tropical feel of the resort. We stayed in a lanai king bungalow and it was very nicely decorated and clean with a comfort bed and linens. The restaurant Baleen was very good. I highly recommend Paradise Point Resort.

The pluses: Beautiful grounds, nice facilities, rooms were spacious, near the water.
The minuses: Bad food which was very expensive, poorly signed and lighted at night (we got lost trying to find our room at night more than once), and the pull up rooms make it feel like an extremely fancy motel, if you don't have a car you cant even walk to get better food.

Ctw666, we greatly appreciate your thoughts on both the positive and unsatisfactory aspects of your stay. Receiving both types of feedback is essential in allowing us to continue to meet guest standards. As a result of comments like yours, we are looking into improving signage and lighting to make the property more easy to navigate at night. We apologize for the shortcomings in these areas, but we are glad to hear we were able to exceed your expectations when it came to our waterfront guestrooms and state-of-the-art meeting facilities. We hope these enjoyable elements of your stay will encourage you to return to our hotel the next time you travel to San Diego.

Great rest area actually quiet enjoyed the fitness center. The beach jog was great and the ducks came up to me. I just wish they had Starbucks coffee. I felt my room was clean but the bathrooms the tubs could use a redo. I stayed in 238 and loved it. The people complaining are probably overly picky.

A great place to just relax and enjoy the many walks around the area and on the beach. Several pools also. My husband was at a conference but I was able to enjoy the surroundings. Located very near Sea World for a short trip.

Room Tip: Ask for a room looking out at the bay

Our stay here was very pleasant! We didn't even have to leave the resort much to do anything. We came the next day after getting married. The atmosphere was nice and tropical. We got just a junior suite room and it was nice and cozy. Upon checking in the staff was nice. We had put a little note upon booking that it was our honeymoon so the staff right away congratulated us. Ive been to many resorts and hotel in san Diego and this definitely is one of a kind. Upon entering our room we had turn down service and a champagne bottle on ice (which we didnt add in to our reservation) with a little note saying it was complimentary. How sweet of them!! What I loved about this resort is you can park your car next to your room so you dont have to walk far..Even nicer that there's a complimentary guy on a golf cart that will pick you up and drive you around the resort to where you need to go. But just walking the resort was nice too! We asked for a bay view if possible and they gave us a nice view. Resort was quite, even though there was families and kids. Theres an adult pool if you want to be away from kids... you don't really have to ever leave the resort either. We had such a nice time I have absolutely no complaints, its a little pricey and theres other fees you have to pay, but of all resorts in SD this one definitely gives you that vacation feeling of being away...we most definitely will be back one day for an anniversary...

Fun tropical vibe. Friendly dudes in golf carts shuttle you about. Our room was on the beach so we hauled our adirondack chairs down to the fire pit and had a ball. The market is super cute. I bought two outfits! Great pedicure at the spa. Our room was recently completely remodeled. Food was just fine. Fun drink menu at the bayside bar.
