Good Nite Inn near SeaWorld
Ranked #96 of 286 Hotels in San Diego
Reviewed 28 May 2014

I booked for 7 nights through online portal as it was a budget hotel with close proximity to local transport in San Diego. On check-in, the front desk staff James was courteous. and I thought I will give them Very good to excellent rating. But I was wrong
the room though neat and big had bad carpet and the bathtub was discolored by stains. No drinking water was provided. Worst was to come. Though mentioned on the website about microwave, none was available in the room. As coming from India and not used to nonveg food I had got my ready to eat stuff which needed a microwave or boiling water. At night the person was hesitant to use the microwave and when he did, he gave back cold packet saying the machine is out of order. the next day I was handed a small tub of hot water. i had to throw away all the food stuff as it was useless without proper boiled water or microwave and had to settle for veg burgers.
The room light lamps were such that the light was inadequate for reading. When viewing the TV the light reflected on screen.
The AC had a heater option which did not work.
Overall if one needs to just sleep and go to work, this is a good budget hotel near Old Town transit station. Beware of rooms with bad carpet as there may be insects or bugs(thankfully I did not see any)

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. Basic rooms but clean and central to downtown area. There was a Denny's next door with a good menu and reasonable prices. Would stay there again. It only took us about a half hour to find get here from the airport.

Management has been a pleasure to deal with. The location is ok but surrounding area was very busy with traffic due to location. Rooms are ok for guys staying out of town for work but would probably not bring the family due to rooms needing to be remodeled with new furniture and carpets. Showers also have very little water pressure.

Room Tip: upper floors provide a better nights sleep due to less foot traffic.

Stayed at the good nite inn around cinco de Mayo for a 5 night stay. Really regret choosing this place. I had stayed here a year ago and didn't have any problems. This year was different. Upon checking in we were not informed the motel would be cleaning the carpets on the second day of our stay. We were rudely awaken by a call to the motel phone. Since we missed the call a maintenance man came knocking really loud on our door. We didn't open the door since we were 2 girls and had no Idea who the man was or why he was calling or knocking on our door. We informed the man we were still in bed and did not want house keeping at the moment. Since we assumed that would be the only person who would be calling and knocking on our door. Well about 5 minutes later the man returned and opened our door with his personal key as we were getting dressed!! I yelled excuse you and he wouldn't close the door. He finally ended leaving a small crack and yelling back that he was maintenance and we needed to exit the room since they were about to clean the carpet. I shut the door on him and immediately called the front desk who was not of any help. The manager answered I explained to him what had just occured and he said he would come up to our room and speak to us immediately. when he got to our room he again demanded we left our room as the carpet was scheduled for cleaning. We asked where he expected us to go he simply replied with "I don't know, maybe you should go get breakfast or you are more than welcome to wait in the lobby." Really? So then we explained to him we did not appreciate his men walking into our room and if he can inform his worker we didn't appreciate him opening our door with his own key without permission specially with the do not disturb sign clearly posted on the door. His response was "the do not disturn sign is a request not a demand, the motel reserves the right to do maintenance work when needed." He ignored our request to inform his men about opening doors on people. Oh ya and he claimed the carpet cleaning would only take 10 minutes. Ya right! It was more like 2 hours. To top it off they left a very loud fan in our room for another 2 hours to "dry" the carpet. I wouldn't recommend this place. If you choose to stay here I hope your experience is far from ours.

Needed a place to stay on a Thursday night. Got a great price for the Good Night Inn near Sea World. It was clean and tidy. Three days later I realized that I must have left my laptop battery charger plugged into a socket in the room. I went back to the hotel. Andre and Caren were such nice, kind people behind the desk. Andre went right to work looking for the charger. Caren and I chatted a couple of minutes when Andre returned with the charger. I was so relieved. It is refreshing to see such honesty. I travel a lot in third world countries and it would be rare to get back such a valuable item. Thanks Andre and Caren.

My husband and I were on our second honeymoon and just wanted a clean, pleasant, inexpensive room for a couple of days. The minute we checked in Ariel at the front desk so nice and helpful that we decided to go ahead and book a second night without even seeing our room first. When we got to our room, we were pleasantly surprised to find a room that could have easily been priced much higher! Bed was comfy, room was clean, and coffee was ready in the lobby first thing in the morning! I had a chat with the manager and he was very nice! We will be coming back to San Diego in the future and we plan on staying here again!
