Owner description: The San Diego Museum of Man is your museum! Join the hundreds of thousands of people each year who come to see its exhibits on beer, monsters, torture, race, human and primate evolution, and more. You can also experience one of most important ancient Egyptian collections in the United States, which includes authentic Egyptian mummies, an exceptionally rare child sarcophagus, and one of the world's few surviving examples of Nefertiti's cartouche. Also, for the first time in 80 years, we are now offering guided tours of the California Tower - one of San Diego's most iconic landmarks. Tower tour tickets are timed like theater tickets, so be sure to purchase tickets in advance to secure your desired date and time.

“Good interpretive displays & interesting topics”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 December 2013

Our family visited the Museum of Man and enjoyed the well-done displays and the topics that they covered. The Maya stela and their carvings were quite interesting, and it was very helpful to view the NOVA video about how these hieroglyphics were deciphered (the program is somewhat lengthy but worthwhile watching). The section about the Native Kumeyaayah people (indigenous inhabitants of San Diego) was quite excellent too. Enjoy this nice museum!

“Small but one of my favourites in Balboa Park”

Loved this museum. The building is beautiful and the exhibits are arranged for maximum impact. Love the flow of it and all the exhibits. Nothing boring about this museum. Plenty of photo opportunities and not stuffy at all,

“Must see!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 December 2013

Very creative museum.

There are so many sections to this place is kind of exhausting. Haha. The lower floor shows the way different cultures celebrate their coming of age, weddings, etc. You go upstairs and there's even more exhibits! How man is similar to gorillas, the existance of mummies, a kids area,

“Exhibit of Torture Instruments!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 December 2013

I had limited time and decided to visit the exhibit of torture instruments. I unfortunately missed that the museums in the Balboa Park are free during weeknights and paid $20, which was definitely at the higher end even though the exhibit was very interesting.
