10 days and all of them wonderful. The staff are so great and did all they could to make a great stay even better. We appreciated the extra effort of Danee (front desk) in putting us in a room that would enhance our stay with a view and her bright smile and positive personality made every walk through the lobby one that put a smile on our faces.
Bar Vie too, was a big highlight to our trip - being able to sit each evening and have a beer or glass of wine and share a laugh with Ashley made for a perfect ending to every day. Ashley is an assett to the hotel and a fountain of information - she is alse extremely pleasant and has great customer service skills. We made a point of ending each evening with her before retiring to our room...altho this may have caused us to imbibe far too much. LOL
The entire food and beverage offerings at the hotel were fantastic - the breakfasts and the food we had in the lounge as well. I understand Nina is no longer there but she has left BIG SHOES to fill by a new department manager.
These three individuals made a great holiday a truly wonderful experience and one we hope to repeat next christmas season if not sooner.

Overall the hotel is one I would recommend to anyone - rooms, food, service, breakfast, all the staff, common areas...

Room Tip: book well in advance to increase odds of meeting all your needs and requests and do your research!

Green Features: with a gold award in green standards...we were impressed with the efforts in the hotel to reduce waste.

We checked in to this hotel after leaving the Residence Inn in Anaheim. Immediately after entering the lobby, we were more than pleased. The lobby was very inviting and our room was ready even though it was only 11am when we checked in.

We were given a room on the 10th floor with a great view of the city. The room was comfortable and clean and very quiet. Breakfast the following morning was top notch and very much aligned with the Residence Inn quality.

The pool area was great, however there was no sun anywhere on the deck. I think this may be due to the time of the year and would expect it to be much sunnier in the Spring and Summer at the pool.

We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel and it was very close to many fun restaurants to sites. This is a great place to stay with family if you want to have more than just a hotel room.

If you want to be in the heart of the city, this is the place to stay. You are within walking distance of all of the restaurants & bars in the Gaslamp District & within walking distance of the trolley, if you want to get to other places in the city. The rooms are clean, the staff is very friendly, & the continental breakfast is great! The only downside to this hotel is the parking: it's $38/night. We found a city garage several blocks down that only charged $15/day, so we ended up parking there.

This is a great hotel right in the gaslamp district of San Diego. It is an easy walk to lots of interesting bars and restaurants. Parking is expensive. Valet is around $40 a night.
Tip: drive one more block past the entrance and park in the ramp on the left. It is one dollar per hour and$15 a night max.
Hotel cost includes breakfast. Breakfast is limited and crowded around 8:30. Difficult to find a seat and food is limited by lines and them running out of things. Good because its included with your room but not really a quality breakfast. Rooms are good, staff is very good, overall seems like a good value.

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel on Trip Advisor, I greatly value your feedback as we at Marriott strive to provide a wonderful stay to all of our guests. I understand how parking the San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter can seem expensive and I am glad that you found reasonable parking very close to the hotel, we at the hotel provide Valet Parking at $38 per night, which allows you 24 hour access to your vehicle and unlimited in and out privledges, while some of the public lots will charge you each time you leave the lot with your vehicle. We hope to see you again soon! Thank you for choosing Residence Inn!

My wife and I stayed here for New Year's Eve 2013 (12/30-1/1), and we loved the location of this hotel. It is within easy walking distance of some great dining options for all times of the day, shopping, transit, and PETCO Park (home of the Padres). If you stay here, you really don't need a car because San Diego's MTS system takes you anywhere you want to go in SD County, including Mission Beach, Qualcomm Stadium, the San Diego Int'l Airport, etc.

The room was a little on the small-ish side (king room), but very comfortable for up to two people. The sink for the bathroom was pretty much in the living area. Front staff and valet staff were exceptionally friendly and courteous, and the free breakfast was full of both hot and cold items ("hot" included scrambled eggs, Canadian bacon, and potato wedges).

We were told when we checked in that every night after 5PM, the hotel bar gives Marriott Elite members free homemade potato chips right out of the fryer and free French onion soup, but that is incorrect; they only give free chips, no soup. A small complaint, but front staff should always be aware of what the specials truly are.

The hotel's 7th floor was pretty quiet; only once did we wake up after New Years, at 3AM when some young partygoers came back to their room nearby. They became quiet quickly after going back to their room.

We reserved ahead, and when I phoned for directions as we left or previous hotel in Phoenix, the front desk made sure we had an 11th floor room with fabulous view towards the harbour because this was to be our first time at this hotel. Stayed 4 nights, one more than originally planned because it was so pleasant. All the staff were great, especially front desk and valet. Room nicely appointed, very clean, loved the kitchen with fridge, microave, full set of dishes and cutlery. Bathroom with separate vanity was a nice touch. Great room for an extended stay and we plan to visit again for at least a week. Each day the complementary breakfast was very good, with a minimum of 4 staff members there to replenish items, clean tables, and keep everything under control. This was one of the best places we stayed on our 3 week road trip from Vancouver, BC which included long stops in Phoenix, Las Vegas and San Diego with many overnight stops along the way.

Room Tip: West facing on a higher floor will give you a good view

My family stayed here while attending a conference at the convention center which is just a 5 minute walk from the hotel. It is perfectly located right in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter which is filled with shops, great restaurants, clubs, and more. It is close to the convention center and to the whole waterfront/marina area. It is very easy to explore the area on foot but you are also steps away from the trolley station if you want to venture further out.

The hotel is beautiful. We had a great corner room on the 11th floor with a fantastic view of the city and the marina and could enjoy the gorgeous sunsets. The staff is exceedingly friendly and helpful, always greeting us as we entered and exited the hotel. The included breakfast was very nice and even featured real dishes and silverware. The breakfast area had plenty of space and never felt crowded.

If you are traveling to the area, this is a great choice and we found it to be more reasonably priced than some of the other nearby options.

Room Tip: Higher floors offer great views of the city and marina.
