Old Town San Diego landmark - great location if you want to go out at night there. Rooms look like a Disney version of Lincoln's bedroom - the styles are right but obvious cheap imitations. Would have been an easy "above average" rating but the guy checking us in was simultaneously seating people at the restaurant and it took 40 minutes though we were the only ones checking in. They also didn't know how to start the fireplace, gave biased opinions on where to eat, etc. Basically a government-run hotel: Imagine if the DMV were in charge of a hotel and you get the picture. Good value though.

Room Tip: Look online and you can preview the rooms. All of them are individual.

Really enjoyed the stay - great location in the old town area and fantastic historic building. Was attending a conference downtown, but this place was so much better than the bland conference hotel. Everything else in the city is accessible via the transportation interchange, less than 5 minutes walk away. The hotel is supposed to be haunted but none of my party of non-believers felt anything, so don't worry if you're scared of ghosts!

Room Tip: Room 11 is supposedly the most haunted although air conditioner unit outside the window means it'...

My husband surprised me with a night here. It was wonderful. The rooms match the feel of the Old Town with antique furniture and no electronics. Wifi is available but there's so much to do down stairs and just of the porch... Why? Our room (#7) had a huge copper soaking tub-- amazing!
We ate at the restaurant downstairs. The food is well prepared and very tasty. The cheese puff-bite things are devine. Breakfast was simple-- fresh fruit and tasty scones.
The beds are not super comfy but the sheets and towels are clean and soft. The staff (EVERYONE ) is not only super friendly but incredibly knowledgable. Old Town San Diego is one of my top 10 destinations mostly because of the awesome experience at the Cosmopolitan Hotel.

Stayed at this hotel on Apr. 29 to May 1st. It was the most wonderful experience, no TV, no phones, and no radio. The service was outstanding, the staff was so friendly and helpful. Anything you asked for they were there to help you with a smile. The food in the restaurant was excellent and wonderfully presented. The décor went with the hotel era, it was beautiful We would recommend this hotel to every one who wants to have a wonderful experience in San Diego.

Room Tip: Stayed in room 2, facing the street. and Old Town. Excellent Sunset.

This is a very charming property. We've stayed here in the past and were happy to spend one night here this past weekend. We stayed in room 7, which is probably my favorite room so far. The design and décor of the room is very pleasant. I like that you have two doors in this room, one that leads to the courtyard balcony and one that leads to the outer balcony. Our night was much quieter than during our last stay, which made it easier to sleep well. The breakfast downstairs was really good. They had the marmalade, which is our favorite and which we enjoy well above the berry jam they had last time. The variety of scones was nice also. The staff were all very warm and helpful from check-in, to our server at the restaurant at dinner, to the woman who prepared the breakfast the next morning. We are looking forward to returning here in August for our wedding!

Another thing I'd like to add is that housekeeping does an excellent job. Each time I've stayed at the Cosmopolitan, our rooms have been completely immaculate. It just feels good to stay in a room that is so perfectly clean and tidy, versus what you get at large hotel chains, even some higher end properties. Our rooms have always been totally spotless, in spite of the fact that this is an old property with all antique furnishings. It's just a nice reassurance to know how clean the rooms will be.

Just quite a let down.

What a wonderful place, I dont were to start with this. first like others have said it is like stepping back in time. The rooms are gorgeous!!! The service can not be bet we never walked out of the elevator without being greated by the staff. Loved the bartenders in the bar. And the food in the restaurant is unique and yummy. give this place a try you will not regret it!
