The Cosmopolitan Hotel and restaurant in Old Town San Diego. We live a few miles north but staying in this hotel was a relaxing, historically rich location that feels far away. The location is perfect in the heart of Old Town State Park, the rooms are decorated in the 1800's period. In spite of the nearby freeways, it is amazingly quiet and restful. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Warning; if you need modern conveniences such as TV and phones, this is not the place for you, take advantage of a long ago time vibe. The prices are reasonable (between 129.00/159.00) which includes a simple, perfect breakfast. Loved it!

Room Tip: They also have rooms for families, however, you are on the 2nd floor if you have busy toddlers. All...

This hotel is in San Diego Old Town - a State Historic Park. It is a beautiful, historic building, and the rooms are decorated in 19th century style - we felt like we had walked into the 1800s! Breakfast (scones, marmalade and coffee) is served on the balcony outside the bedroom. There are no mod-cons, but if you want a unique hotel this is the place for you. There is a transit centre in Old Town, so travel downtown is easy and quick. The staff were really friendly too.

Neat Hotel. Give you an appreciate for how people lived back then. You definitely have to check out the picture of Bandini...his eyes follow you as you walk across the room. They have very friendly staff too.

We selected the hotel for the location and uniqueness. It is a historic building and also in a State Park. We had three rooms, each was decorated differently. They were very clean and in really good condition. I was impressed with the condition of the rooms , plumbing and electrical . The staff was really friendly. I wish I got the lady's name, she was working the morning of 5/3014. She went out of her way for our party. The complimentary breakfast is scheduled to be served at 7:30am. My son was graduating from MCRD, so we had to leave before then. We inquired about the breakfast at 7:00am. She put a rush on it and had it ready for us at 7:10. The scones were warm and very good. I will definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: I saw 3 of the rooms, each was different and very nice

Old Town San Diego landmark - great location if you want to go out at night there. Rooms look like a Disney version of Lincoln's bedroom - the styles are right but obvious cheap imitations. Would have been an easy "above average" rating but the guy checking us in was simultaneously seating people at the restaurant and it took 40 minutes though we were the only ones checking in. They also didn't know how to start the fireplace, gave biased opinions on where to eat, etc. Basically a government-run hotel: Imagine if the DMV were in charge of a hotel and you get the picture. Good value though.

Room Tip: Look online and you can preview the rooms. All of them are individual.

Really enjoyed the stay - great location in the old town area and fantastic historic building. Was attending a conference downtown, but this place was so much better than the bland conference hotel. Everything else in the city is accessible via the transportation interchange, less than 5 minutes walk away. The hotel is supposed to be haunted but none of my party of non-believers felt anything, so don't worry if you're scared of ghosts!

Room Tip: Room 11 is supposedly the most haunted although air conditioner unit outside the window means it'...

My husband surprised me with a night here. It was wonderful. The rooms match the feel of the Old Town with antique furniture and no electronics. Wifi is available but there's so much to do down stairs and just of the porch... Why? Our room (#7) had a huge copper soaking tub-- amazing!
We ate at the restaurant downstairs. The food is well prepared and very tasty. The cheese puff-bite things are devine. Breakfast was simple-- fresh fruit and tasty scones.
The beds are not super comfy but the sheets and towels are clean and soft. The staff (EVERYONE ) is not only super friendly but incredibly knowledgable. Old Town San Diego is one of my top 10 destinations mostly because of the awesome experience at the Cosmopolitan Hotel.
