“fun!”
Reviewed 3 June 2014

This place is off of Miramar Dr. There are no signs but you know you are there when you see all the war planes. Admission is free. It was great to get so close to all those fighter jets and helicopters. If you are a fan of military history, this is the place to visit.

“Marine Aviation”
Reviewed 14 March 2014

My business partner and I took a day trip from Los Angeles to San Diego to visit the Flying Leathernecks Aviation Museum. It is located at the Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) at Miramar. They pretty much captured the essences Marine Corps aviation. The Museum has several rooms full of displays and pictures. They also have a gift shop. All of the actual planes and helicopters are scattered outside the main building. In the summer months, they open some of the cockpits and visitors can actually sit in the planes. Oddly enough, the two docents we talked to were former Air Force pilots. Nevertheless, they were very knowledgeable regarding Marine Corps aviation. We spent a little more than two hours there and it was well worth the time.

“Great couple of hours”

Excellent static display, one can actually sit in a few jut fighters, adjacent to MCAS. Much nostalgia.

“Up close with US Marine Aviation history”
Reviewed 29 December 2013

The museum is mostly outdoors and maintains an impressive collection of US Marine aircraft. An hour was adequate to wander amongst the aircraft and take a few pictures. The staff/volunteers were very friendly and informative. I spent 15 minutes chatting to a man who was doing some protective treatment on the Harrier and his knowledge of some of the aircraft and Marine Aviation history in general was mind-blowing. He had some great anecdotes about the aircraft on display.

It's a low-key museum, but well worth a visit for aviation buffs.
