The Red Door was amazing - great food and service. Very quaint seating with room for both larger parties or a romantic table. Food quality is excellent. A lot of variety on the menu while still being very approachable. The cocktails were an experience as well.

“Loved this restaurant”
Reviewed 13 October 2013

Great service, very laid-back vibe but beautiful decor, and the food was amazing. Everything from the appetizer (corn bread with poppy seeds) to the main dishes (I had a delicious sea bass) to the dessert (bread pudding) was fantastic. Good for a date night.

“Above average if you're in the area”
Reviewed 30 September 2013

We visited Red Door on a Sunday evening with another couple. The service was very good, and the menu had great choices. We ordered a bottle of wine a few appetizers to start, as well as entrees. Three out of four entrees ordered were great! Unfortunately I had the one that wasn't. Normally I would have sent back my Schnitzel plate, but due to the company, I didn't want to cause a scene. The Schnitzel looked great on the plate when it arrived, with some braised sweet red cabbage and a celery root and potato puree. But the Schnitzel tasted like grease and the grease flavor overpowered everything. The celery root and potato puree was cold. It was a bit disappointing after the good wine and appetizers we had. I may consider Red Door again, but I won't expect much.

“One of the best happy hours in San Diego”

Really interesting and delicious small plates. I highly recommend a visit. A real gem. We had a shrimp dish and a duck taco that I still dream about. Very interesting flatbread (usually a special that changes daily).
