“Lovely grounds, staff and Spa, linens and fees, not so much”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 February 2010

Heeding all the advice on Trip Advisor, I booked through Hotels.com which included the resort fee, though the receptionist at the front desk tried to charge me anyway, I brought receipt of booking and inclusion of the fee. The valet parking is for a 24 hour period and ours was waived as the check out agent felt it wasn't worth charging the card, nice. Not so nice is four days after check-out I am looking at a pending change for $100 on my credit card that I can't get a straight answer about and I really hate these type of errors and disputes from an establishment that sees itself as elite in customer service.

The grounds are beautiful, the pool at the spa is saline and 82 degrees, the pools in the main inn area are also heated and open till 11, and the hot tubs are very nice as well. These "upgraded linens" that are boasted about on the website are a joke. I can sleep well at a Motel 6, but I literally lost 3 hours trying to fall asleep on rock hard pillows and the comforters are polyester filled with lumps. The rooms are perfectly nice, but not much more. There is not an elevator in the whole place, so be prepared to haul your luggage up or down stairs if you are not one who calls for a bellhop.

I would recommend the Spa to a friend, but no the hotel.

The resort was beautiful! More for a couple who likes to golf and take andvantage of the spa treatments. Not much to do off the resort but can have plenty of time to enjoy the company of a loved one (one on one time). The staff was outstanding, you can tell they all have been with the resort for many years and they do not plan on leaving...everyone loves their job! Love the view and all the remodeling! Would love to go back!!

So I got a good deal at this hotel. That is the reason why I stayed here. I stayed here for two nights. First the room was okay. Nothing special. Everything looked pretty dated. I read on their website that they did a multimillion dollar renovation. But I did not see anything of any sort in the room. Just a new flat screen TV.

Towards the end of my 2 day stay when I got the bill under the door. It was for $65 dollars. $20 per day resort fee, $10 per day parking, $2.50 per day occupancy tax. I think they went over board to charge for parking. I understand when you get a hotel in a downtown area where space is limited and parking is underground and it costs to engineer these structures. But this hotel is in the middle of no where with TONS of open space for parking. Its not like you can take public transportation there. You HAVE to drive.

So I will never stay here again with the ridiculous $65.00 charge at the end of my 2 day stay.

I stayed with some friends and associates at this resort and it was wonderful. The golf course was immaculate as expected and the pace of play was very relaxed. The service was great here. The dining was very nice as well. Just wish things were a bit cheaper but you get what you pay for as everything is excellent. I will be coming back here very soon.

I stayed at the RBI when I was on a 3-day conference, and I enjoyed the ambiance of the place. The Spanish colonial decor is very in keeping with the area. The grounds are beautiful, with Mediterranean courtyards and fountains. There are four computers for guest use, two in the lobby and two in the cafe, and a big flat screen TV in the room. The food served at the receptions was good, but not great--too many fried things. I did not have a chance to try the spa or the El Bizcocho Restaurant, but the food served at the bar was decent and very reasonably priced. The Veranda Restaurant was closed for remodeling. The property is rather remote, well off the freeway in the middle of a residential neighborhood, so it is not a place to stay if you are in the area for sightseeing or nightlife, but for a relaxing escape, this is the place!

Mostly travel for business in our lives, it was nice to stop for a second and relax. Their spa is incredible and so is the spa pool. Room was very comfortable. The staff went out of their way and we could tell, even the ones that had to work New Years Eve. Friendly, relaxing, quiet, romantic, perfect. (golf too if you are into that....I am not....but it looks good)

After watching our Huskers win the Holiday Bowl, our party went to Rancho Bernardo Inn to see the New Year in. The recent renovations brought back the beauty of the place and was absolutely the best stay we've had in a long time. The staff was so accommodating and couldn't do enough for us. The food for New Year's Eve was excellent and the decorations for the Holidays were really special. We would recommend this resort to anyone wanting a first class stay.
