“Worldmark was ok”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 November 2013

Accommodations were fine. Pool and hot tub had been drained, so we would have had to drive somewhere else to use a pool. The location was ok. We stayed there because a friend is a Wyndham owner. We had just come from a place near the bay and ocean, and in comparison, Worldmark just did not measure up for me.

In reading other reviews, I agree with the main points listed below. It is a great location, 5-15 minutes away from most of the great locations in the greater San Diego area. We were 20-30 minutes from my wife's family in Chula Vista so it was perfect for us. We are Wyndham owners but have stayed at multiple Worldmark locations. Typical Worldmark style property. Full kitchen, King master bedroom, double twin 2nd bedroom, balcony (or patio), sofa or murphy bed and 2 full baths. They placed us on the top floor facing the mountians in the back and we were not placed on the front side facing Interstate 8. Thank you staff of Worldmark Mission Valley. We could have an enjoyable cup of morning coffee on the back balcony gazing out at the mountianside. The pool and spa area were being renovated while we were on property but we knew about this ahead of time. We did receive access to a local indoor pool landmark but we ran out of time and were not able to take advantage of it. Our room was close to the elevators and the laundry room. With 2 small kids these are the little things that we appreciated. The only issue we had was being interupted a couple of times the morning of check-out. Around 9AM, a maintenance person started to come in and was surprised to see us. He told us the desk told him we had checked out but we had not left yet. Usually I lock the front door of a hotel/condo room where I am staying but I had just returned from the laundry room and did not relock the deadbolt. So, that was on both of us. Around 11AM (Noon is check-out time) as I was loading up the luggage cart and head down to the car there was a knock at the door. As I was right there with the cart I opened it up and a housekeeping supervisor was there wondering if we had left yet. I showed her the cart and said that even though check-out was Noon, we would be out in a couple of minutes. She smiled and thanked me. Again, this is not a deal breaker for a return trip but it was the last thing that happened after a great 3-day stay. Guys, call to see if we have left and don't assume. I have worked in hospitality for over a decade and I have walked into an occupied room before too. But, 2 interuptions in 2 hours on check-out day? Just call the room next time to see if we are still around. But, the unit was clean and comfortable. Our kids loved the TV in their room!!! Can't wait to come back, try the updated pool area and see our family again!!!

Room Tip: Ask for an odd numbered room that faces the back of the property to avoid a room that may face out f...

The good thing about this resort is its location. It is 15 minutes from Seaworld, San Diego Zoo/Balboa Park, Downtown and Coronado. Legoland was only 30 minutes away so that wasn't bad either. We stayed in a one bedroom unit which was comfortable. The only issue that I had with it were the gnats flying around, which my husband said is normal due to the humidity in the air, and the shower head that washed one shoulder at a time. The resort outside of the unit was nice. The exercise room and equipment were kept clean and in good working condition. The only thing that was a little disappointing about the public areas of this location is what my husband calls the "cold" jacuzzi. The size of the swimming pool was so small that I don't think more than 2 families of 4 can fit there comfortably and that might even be pushing it.

Room Tip: Try and get a room on the second floor or above. The balcony is a nice touch which the 1st floor doe...

We used RCI points to book this resort. We got there a bit early and our room was not quite ready yet. The concierge took his time explaining how to get around San Diego as this was our first time. He suggested the trolly system or the Tour Trolly. We went and bought some supplies for our week and when we came back our room was ready. We were on the 3rd floor overlooking the pool. While that sounds nice, it was a bit loud in the evenings, but not horrible. The room was very nice, quite clean and had everything we needed. It is not luxurious by any means but still just fine. One note, the bed was fantastic! Also, the WIFI was very fast.

We were gone all day everyday and were only there for evenings. We did not partake in the pool or hot tub as it is quite small and always filled with kids. The parking is underground and never had a problem finding a spot.

Overall it is a nice place and a great central location. We would stay there again.

Room Tip: Over the pool can be a little loud due to the layout of the hotel as the pool is in the middle of a...

We had a wonderful stay at WorldMark San Diego. The Mission Valley resort is in the heart of San Diego and only 5-15 minutes to Sea World and the San Diego Zoo. This is the perfect place to stay for a family on the go. The units are small, but still pack the usual WorldMark amenities. The pool is nice. I would recommend WorldMark Ocean Side if you want to stay spend your days the resort. Buying in to WorldMark has been one of the best decisions my family has made. It affords us many fabulous family vacations.

Stayed in a one bedroom as a family of four. Was hoping to have two in bedroom, two utilizing sleeper sofa. Unfortunately, sleeper sofa was so uncomfortable we all squished in the bed. They offered us a matress pad for the sofa but it was simply a lightly quilted matress cover so it did not improve the comfort level. The location of our unit was awful as well. Not only because of the proximity of the elevator but because of the fact that a large trash and recycling receptacle was located outside of the door in the hallway. This clearly should have been labeled a 'less desirable' location. The pool is also tiny for the number of guests. It was packed at all hours and did not have a life guard. The one plus was the resort was convenientally located to sea world, shopping, beaches. Overall unimpressed and as a worldmark owner slightly embarrassed to have it as a worldmark property.

Me, my husband and two grandchildren (ages 7 and 11) stayed in a two bedroom, two bath condo the last week of May. We were on the 3rd floor overlooking the pool. The condos are nicely furnished in typical Worldmark fashion. The bedrooms and bathrooms are decent size but the kitchen/dining area is very small. We had to move the dining chairs just to get to the appliances and move around in the kitchen. The kitchen was stocked with the usual dishware but everything seemed crammed. The pool and hot tub are on the small side but the kids had a great time nonetheless. The condo is about 15 minutes away from Seaworld which we visited several times and is pretty easy to get to. The airport is easy to get to as well and we also visited the USS Midway which is also within a 15 minute drive. We did get approached to attend a timeshare presentation but we declined upon check-in. They did call us twice to try to get us to go but they didn't pressure us. The staff is very friendly and they gave us free ice cream when we were too late to attend the ice-cream movie family night. They have different movie family nights with free popcorn but the "family room" does not accommodate more than about 12-15 people. The arcade room is very small with only a few games and the machines sometimes took our money and then didn't work. We checked out games from the front desk which the kids loved. There is no gift shop or store in sight so you have to drive to get anything although we did go one night to Benihanas which is right across the street. The parking lot is very tight and you have to maneuver around large poles but we never had a problem finding a parking spot. Security here seemed really good as the guard came to our room when he saw the door cracked open just to make sure we were okay. I saw him checking the premises frequently and he was very friendly as well. Overall, this is a nice place to stay and close to everything you might want to do in San Diego. We would stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the pool as the other rooms appear to overlook a dirt hill.
