“Pleasnt surprise and wonderful stay in a "wonderful" room!”
Reviewed 12 August 2014

First, we are not quite the W's demographic - we're older, don't like loud music anymore, etc etc. That said the W was a great place to stay as the staff is ENTIRELY attentive to their guest's needs; the rooms are a good size and spotless; the Living Room bar has great food and drink especially for happy hour and it's right near the Trolley.
We stopped by the rooftop bar and left right away because, as i said, we are too old to enjoy the loudness. But the Living Room, the large downstairs bar, was perfect for us and we had a great time.
The pool is small, that's true but it wasn't crowded when we were there. If we'd wanted to go and it was a busy time we'd probably knock down a star.
Or maybe not. We were totally pleasantly surprised and everything we did and everyone we encountered was perfect for a short stay!

Room Tip: upper floors! To save on valet parking, skip the (admittedly very nice) valet and use the LAZ lot on...

We had a very nice stay here. The rooms are very nice, very clean, but small. The location is great. Walk able to many things. They have a fun beach bar on the roof with beautiful views
We would return

Room Tip: Away from the elevators

Hi Shelly,

Our location is great for taking advantage of everything San Diego has to offer. Head over to Little Italy or Gaslamp Quarter for great dining and nightlife. We're also close to great shopping and other attractions. Connect with our Inisder Megan if you need a few recommendations. We'd love for you to check out our Rooftop Bar. We've since removed the sand and created more of a deck space with the same great views and better cocktails.

See you next time,
Michael

We stayed at the W San Diego over the Christmas Holiday period we found the staff very friendly, nice sized rooms and prompt room service. The roof top bar is a must, the food and drinks are delicious and you can enjoy the atmosphere by the fire

Hello!

You're over due for a visit! I'm glad we could celebrate with you over the holiday! I agree that Rooftop Bar is always a must see. The cocktails are amazing and the views aren't bad either. On your next stop in, connect with our Insider Megan. She'd love to show you around the city.

Cheers,
Michael

Staff was very friendly! Our room wasn't ready so we were offered a drink while we wait. The room was very nice. Bed was very comfy! The rooftop bar had a Welcome drink for SPG members.

Thought the pool was small. It didn't have morning sun, so we couldn't have a last minute hang out at the pool in the morning. Otherwise would recommend!

Too bad-but it's loud and terrible. Good to pop I to nightclub if you are 22 years old. Otherwise, stay away-so many other options. I think it might be the w format, but this is a little tired -so 2002, but really, let's move forward- quieter lobby-keep it at the bars

Hi Stacia,

We are a very lively property and do encourage our guests to mingle in the Living Room and Rooftop Bar for a few cocktails in the evening. We aren't just for the very young, but for those looking to experience top notch service and enjoy their stay. If you have any issues throughout your stay, please bring them to our attention before you leave. We would love the opportunity to make it better.

Best,
Michael

Very friendly, helpful staff. The pool is very small but nice and quiet. The rooftop is awesome for a nightcap. The Workout room was perfect for me. The hotel is nice but walking back and fourth to the hotel at night for a lady is a bit creepy. Too many bums on the next street over, not enough lighting. Jail and courthouse is very near. There is no shuttle van service, on the goodside the train MTS is two streets over, very convenient. We traveled on it often. The more days you buy the cheaper it is. Also, use Uber instead of the taxi's. Cheaper and very friendly. ..much better. The hotel gives a $20.00 credit for first time users.
