So my bf and i had looked all over mission valley and surrounding areas because this past weekend was our 1 yr anni and this was the last room anywhere near the area because of lots of events in San Diego including the Marine Corp ball. We ended up getting this room and I was told when I called the first time to ask about reservations the king room would be 69.99 plus 10% off with my aaa discount by Nancy. I specifically made it clear we need a king size bed or else we wouldn't be making reservations here, she said ok I have a king size bed. So I needed to make sure this is what we wanted to do and I told her I'd call right back. Called back and she has the nerve to tell me the rate is 79.99 a night. I told her just 2 minutes ago you said 69.00 for the night. Plus you said I could use my aaa card. She just laughed and said ok. Then we get there the next day and as I'm checking in i tell the very rude Arab guy(to other people b4 us) checking people in that I have a aaa card and that I'd like my 10% percent off. He replies.. "you don't get 10% off you already have a discounted rate. Base rate, rack rate is 125.00 a night." I said are you kidding me for a motel??? He said "yes." I told him well ok. I then checked in we parked our car and I went up to the room while my bf got all of our stuff. To my surprise the room was tiny as a whole in the wall!! Like literally 10x10 if that. There was a table right next to the bed (against the wall i might add) so you had to squeeze by the bed in order to get to the bathroom. I had pictures to prove my point but I just got a new phone and the pics didn't save to my new one. I'll add them later if I can. Oh and the best part was our room did not have a KING size bed like I was promised. SO by this time I am about to blow it. We had other issues with getting the time off and my job ruined our initial plans to go to Disneyland because they kept flip flopping on my schedule. So already very upset and stressed out I went storming down to the front desk and was like "Where is my King size bed?!?!?!?!" The jerk off who checked us in said "we don't have any king size beds, and then his coworker gave me a major attitude and said we don't have room for king size beds" I told her I work in hospitality how dare you lie to guests about such things. I specifically told them I will be writing a horrible review on tripadvisor. These people are ignorant, rude, and lie about everything. Even the pics on the website are a lie. I kid you not these rooms are 10x10 at the biggest! The staff's attitude and rudeness is ATROCIOUS. 125.00/ night for this whole in the wall? I can stay at HILTON for that price. These people are flipping nuts!! I recommend Hilton for this outrageous prices. The staff there are excellent and are at your every whim. Rude people and really need to learn better customer service skills. We don't treat people like this is America.
The only good thing about this place is the Best Western Seven Seas next door has a bar you can go to with lots of cool people. We met Katt Williams and Some of the Charger Players last weekend.
The whole hotel smells of smoke. The wifi connection was bad and the phone in my room didn't work. I stayed here only because I was delayed in San Diego one night due to fog. The staff did eventually let me use their phone to rebook my flight, and call the hotel I was suppose to be staying at in San Fran to let them know I would be arriving a day late. (I did not want to have to pay global roaming rates on my mobile.)
The price is cheap and the room was clean, though I think other hotels in the area are the same price.
The breakfast was good, waffles, eggs, bacon. Better and more variety than other hotels. If you are a smoker, you would be allowed to smoke here. (Even the non-smoking smell of cigarettes.)
I stayed there for one night. It was neat and clean. Room was spacious.
The breakfast was very good and as compare to other Quality Inn hotels where I had stayed this was much better and had many more options.
I would have given 4 0r 5 start but two factors were deciding factor:
1. I had requested for microwave but I did not hear back anything on my request. It was on request but the response was not provide.
2. As per the structure and lesser lighting around the hotel I was bit worried about the safety. Getting it lighted around the hotel will help.
