Having stayed at several San Diego hotels, Residence Inn Mission Valley goes to the top of my list. With the courteous Staff (Tawny, Jo, Shamar, Shelby, Courtney, Lindsey, and even the manager Todd), this hotel makes me feel at home. Keep up the good work and I will continue to see you guys monthly.

Myself and 4 other coworkers stayed at the hotel from 3/20-4/22. During the first couple weeks of the stay the hotel was completing a massive renovation. Other than a couple of areas being blocked off for the guests safety and seeing the workers during off hours, it was never an inconvenience. Being a returning guest, the renovation brought much needed changes. The rooms now have updated stainless steel appliances, new carpet, wall coverings, furniture, beds, and the best addition, Flat Panel TVs. Wireless internet in all of the rooms would be nice, but they do provide a patch cable for access to the free internet in every room.

The hotel also has many other great features that added to the stay. The breakfast is real food every morning (not just pastries and coffee). Make sure to get down stairs early on the weekend or you will be eating with a crowd of other guests. Make sure to try out the waffle maker, best waffle you will ever eat. Dinner with dessert was served Monday-Thursday. A couple times they served soup on back to back nights (almost asked the staff if I could make a waffle), but the free beer (not the watery stuff, brews like Shocktop, Stella, and Long Hammer on tap) and wine more than made up for the soup. If you have the time, I recommend that you take the time for the manager night activities on Thursday night, whether it is Karaoke, Poker, Bingo, or Smores on the fire pit, the hotel staff always makes sure the activity is fun and there is the potential for Marriott points to be won by the guests...Also, if you like to Grille, they have two that are available for guests. You just have to request use and they will supply the gas, spatulas, and even light it up for you.

The hotel is also within walking distance to Old Towne San Diego and 15-20 minute drive to downtown or the attractions. I recommend that you check out the Cosmopolitan for a dressier dinner (best food in Old Town) or hit up Fred's or Cafe Coyote for the drinks and above average Mexican food. Just expect a long wait if going out on Taco Tuesday...

Overall, the stay was the most fun I have had on a business trip in a long time. Every single person on the staff was courteous, professional and would also engage in casual conversations (often needed when out of town for a long period of time with the same 3 people). I have been coming to the hotel since 2004 and plan to go back next time I have business in the area.

My stay at the Residence Inn by Marriott in San Diego was an extension of being at my own home. Pleasant surroundings, well kept rooms, friendly employees, great breakfast choices, centrally located near the heart of Downtown San Diego, easy freeway access, leaving and returning to the Hotel. I will stay again at the Residence Inn on my next trip to San Diego; due to the recent upgrades of the rooms and the lobby area, created a fresh look for the Inn. I have attached a couple of photos showing how organized the kitchen area is and the bedroom.

I am frequent traveler. Actually, I travel more than anyone I have ever met. I am on an average of 4 to 6 flights every week and stay at least 250 nights in hotels every year.

I try to stay in Marriott properties (although I stray on occassion based on locality).

This property made me feel so "at home" and comfortable that I felt it was necessary to write a review.

The front desk staff, kitchen staff, housekeeping, maintenance, and management team were all extremely friendly and helpful. On Wednesday evening they hosted an outdoor bar-b-que which was more like a friendly disney resort experience than a typical Marriott stay.

The breakfast was impressive every morning with quite a layout!

And the location was a bonus. Quick and Easy access to North, South, East, and the beach.

I have stayed at other area Full Service Marriotts, Courtyards, and Hyatts, but in all my future travels to San Diego, I will be staying with this property!

I highly recommend this property to anyone traveling to San Diego County.

I've been staying at this place for years. I am a Platinum Premier Marriott rewards member and can honestly say you can't expect to get much more than what they provide. The breakfast is more than what you get at a typcial Residence Inn and the social hour during the week can't be touched by other hotels. Believe me, I've had the "nacho's" (tortilla chips and cheese whiz) that most RI's say is their evening fare and they can't compete....this place provides full meals most days. The staff is fantastic and treat you like a friend and not just another face coming into the hotel! If you have a problem, they will go out of their way to fix it. The renovations look great and provide a fresh new look to the hotel along with nice upgrade to the TV's in each room.

Basically in a side road full of hotels. But it is convenient for the expressways to all destinations and also close to several lovely outdoor malls. Close enough for quick access via car to the beach or canyons too. But therein lies the problem; you will need a car, or a cab which you can take to the trolley. Same if you want to go out and get food.

The hotel pool was lovely even in winter, as was the jacuzzi. Breakfast is always a winner for me. I thought the staff were actually friendly.

However; for a Residence Inn it was greatly overpriced. But then this is San Diego, not the cheapest city you will ever go to.

So location and hotel are fine if you have a car.
