“Great stay”
Reviewed 22 August 2013

I've stayed here on numerous occasions, and am always so pleased with the quality of the hotel, and the politeness and friendliness of the staff. I couldn't ask for much more, and certainly plan to stay here each subsequent visit to the Downtown San Diego area.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel very much. Our favorite part was having good hot coffee delivered to our room every morning. We did, however, have to request the order slip every night but the first. The on site restaurant was excellent, with great menu choices and great service. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.

not one genuine smile, we didnt feel special. Upon c/i we asked where was the closest beach, the lady at the desk asked us to see the Concierge. Why she could not answer such a simple question? we didnt want to go to the Concierge...all the way to the other side of the hotel lobby, we were on vacation, then we asked the staff for a local/nice place to grab a coffee, they could not recommend anything, one said that he doesnt buy coffee, the other one said that he buys it at the hotel which we didnt want it, we wanted a nice place OUTSIDE of the hotel. other than that, everything was OK, we expected more customer service, they need to show more that they care.

Pros:
-Great location- center of everything in Gaslamp district
-Fantastic gym
-Super quick elevators
-Customer service: We had 804 but after a very noisy nap they moved us to 1131 which gave us a great new and QUIET room. This was all done with a smile
-Fast valet (but expensive at $38!)
-Very comfy bed and linens
-An over abundance of big fluffy towels
-Modern and sleek furnishings
-Complimentary morning coffee and internet when you sign up for their loyalty program

Cons:
-The toilet of the first room was a bit dirty- like a cleaning lady had ashed a cigarette in it?
-Loud first room but they moved us no problem
-We ordered yogurt and fruit with our coffee the first morning but it was never delivered

Room Tip: Get as high a floor as possible, away from stairs, elevator, ice machine and maid's room

This hotel is immediately beside the ball park and the gaslight district, neither of which is worth it. The staff was very courteous I ordered a wheelchair accessible room with a roll in shower. It was fairly nice, the roll in shower had a sturdy plastic bench with suction feet Several of the light switches and the thermostat were not accessible. The bed could be two inches lower
I was there for a conference. It would be nice if the interior decorators of hotels, especially those with conference facilities would borrow a wheelchair and attmpt to push down the miles of impossible carpet they torture us with. Why can't they install a three foot wide tile path through the conference area?

Room Tip: Stay away from rooms on the ballpark side of the hotel, not only do you get noise and lights from th...

Dear Wheelchair-Bandit,
Thank you very much for taking the time to review your stay with us. I apologize that the noise from the stadium affected your stay. I appreciate you sharing your suggestion about the conference access/carpeting and will pass this information along to the design team for future consideration.
We appreciate your business and hope you will consider us again in the future.

We stayed in a basic room that was clean and comfortable. All of the hotel staff were friendly and helpful and went out of their way to ensure we were having a good stay. The location is very convenient to the conference centre and the Gaslamp area as well as a trolley station. My only mild complaint would be that rooms facing the baseball stadium are very, very close to the stadium and a parkade, and the noise on game nights can be a bit of an issue.
