“Nice evening on the patio”
Reviewed 5 February 2014

We arrived early for dinner since they do not take reservations. We were greated by a very cheerful and pleasant hostess. She gave us a very nice seat on the back patio that was right under a heat lamp. Our server for the evening was Nathan and he provided us with good service. We shared an order of the lamb meatball sliders on their happy hour menu as an appetizer. They were delicious, served on ciabiatta bread. It was a nice start to the evening. My husband and I both ordered the marinated rib steak and it is very good value at $21.50. We received a decent sized steak that was cooked exactly as we requested. It was served with smoked gouda mashed potatoes, roasted mushrooms (delicious) and grilled asparagus. For dessert we shared the pumpkin cobbler It also was very good.

There was a singer that came on later in the evening and she was very good. Not too loud, so it just added to the ambiance

“relaxing spot for date night or to meet with friends”
Reviewed 27 December 2013

This Hillcrest area restaurant is reminiscent of cafes in Provence. There is sidewalk seating, inside seating and patio seating. I very much liked the patio, which has space heaters. We went as an adult family group, but it would be great for a date night... or a group of friends who want to gather, have a couple of bottles of good wine, a few plates of good food to share, and discuss how to solve the problems of the world. We ordered the burrata cheese plate and crispy cauliflower as appetizers, followed by the fried green tomato and butter lettuce salad, "mac and cheese", Marinara pizza and La Bamba pizza. For wine we chose the tempranillo on the $20 list. We all passed around the plates and tried everything. All were quite good. I would like to have also had a bowl of olives, which is on the appetizer menu. I just didn't order it. Service was very good. We were on a tight time schedule as we had to drop someone at the airport. We told the server our time frame and received food very quickly, and in the order it should be served. Gratuity was included on our bill for our group of 5.

We will definitely go to this restaurant again.

“Not bad, but lots of room to grow”
Reviewed 18 November 2013

It's difficult to write a tepid review for a place that tries so very hard to be good. There are quite a few things that are excellent about 100 Wines, the problem lies in that for all of its excellent components, it doesn't quite come together into a truly rewarding experience.

The good: The food is excellent with new takes on some well-known favorites. I ordered the open-faced pulled-pork Cuban sandwich and it was just right. Their appetizers are a true joy and the desserts were wonderful.

The bad: They got the espresso wrong. How did they manage that? Too little espresso in the machine? Someone forgot to check the pressure?

The ugly: Industrial-chic is one thing, but they've taken the bare-bones look to an extreme here. It's cold in the restaurant. Not chilly, cold. Keep-your-jacket-and-your-mittens-on cold. And they know it; so much so that they thoughtfully provide blankets. Nice touch, but I very much prefer to eat without shivering.

To add injury to frostbite the acoustics of the place are awful. Keeping with the bare-bones aesthetic, the place has little to stop sound from bouncing off the walls. It's extremely loud, sometimes painfully so.

All in all the place felt like a near miss. Like a wonderful dinner that should have happened but didn't. Pity.

“All Around Unique”
Reviewed 11 November 2013

From the outside looking in, it looks small but it's not. Lots of great seating inside and out with great service to go with. The happy hour can't be beat with $5 wines and $7 appetizers that are not the typical mozzarella sticks, poppers or chicken wings. You can easily enjoy a great time of food and wine at a reasonable price with their happy hour menu. Bottles of wine for $20! The menu is limited but the selections are unique and the portions sizes are perfect. We had the oh-so-good ribeye steak with the best grilled asparagus and mushrooms. The clam and sausage paella was very good but not as spicy as I expected. It's a great first-date place to meet!

“Fantastic wines and good food”
Reviewed 5 November 2013

I stopped in for a quite bite and a glass of wine and could not have been more pleased with the choice. Great wine recommendations by the bartender, a lovely conversation with a neighbor and a mixed, but overall solid dinner.

Would definitely return and certainly recommend.
