We just happened by Greystone Steak House while wondering around the Gaslamp Quarter. It looked busy and pretty decent so we gave it a shot. The pretty lady on the doorstep might have helped with our choice too!

We were seated in one of the outside tables, at the front of the restaurant. We didn't bother with starters and went straight for the steak. It was cooked just right (I'm a big fan of steak on the bone, even though it makes it harder for the chef to cook it right). We shared a side dish of potato, which was a little odd, since it was just a huge, dry baked potato.

Anyway, we found it to be a nice restaurant with very friendly staff and good quality food.

Food here was excellent. I opted for the Sea Bass over a steak and was extremely pleased. I ate at the bar and the service was very friendly. Nice decor as well!

I never felt cheated in a restaurant before ..........But this happened here .I was on a conference in San Diego in May and strolled down 5th Ave for a bite .Was invited into a steak restaurant by a lovely lady offering me a Surf and Turf steak for $ 45 -00 .I had two glasses of good New Zeeland wine enjoyed the crayfish and tasted the steak which was not good at all .Received a bill of $135 -00 .On enquiring about the reason I was charged double ...Crayfish seperate and steak separate .So please take note when you sit down .Your budget might be totally ruined by false info .I was never ever more embarrassed in my life .Not been able to pay a restaurant in full .By the way the steak was average and far from a good experience .I took a doggy bag and gave it to one of the homeless people on the street .

San Diego on business and had seen the menu the night prior. Looked like a nice selection. We had a large group and many of us ordered the sea bass or the filet. Neither received good reviews. The sea bass was fishy and the steaks were average. With so many choices on Fifth Street I would recommend anything other than this venue. It was sub-par at best.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We never like to hear that a guest is unhappy with his/her food, so when an entire group is unhappy we would certainly like to get to the bottom of this problem. If there is any more specific feedback you could provide such as what was wrong with the steaks (not cooked properly, seasoning, etc) and whether or not the problems were brought to the attention of our staff, we would greatly appreciate the information. We apologize for the negative experience your group had at Greystone and hope that if you are back in San Diego in the future, you might be willing to give us another chance!
