“If you like farmer's markets, you'll LOVE this one”
Reviewed 29 December 2013

We're a family of 5 and live close to a summer farmer's market in Calgary, AB. Whether or not we buy anything, we like the farmer's market vibe. We're in San Diego for 4 days over the Xmas holidays, and are staying in the Hotel Circle area. We assumed there would be a weekend market in San Diego given the climate... and we were right! To top it off, the location couldn't have been better (an easy 5 minute drive from our hotel).

You'll find an incredibly diverse variety of arts & crafts, fresh produce, meats, cheese, dips, sauces, etc. We nearly filled up on the generous samples. The vendors were all very friendly and knowledgeable about local specialties. But it was the food booths that really set this place apart for us. As you get towards this section, the smells are fantastic... fresh fish, juices, ethnic foods from all over the world, you name it... very VERY good.

We expected this to be a 30 minute stop. We were there for nearly 3 hours and could have done more...

“Cool market for locals and tourists”
Reviewed 25 December 2013

The farmer's market at Hillcrest is the kind of place that surprises the tourists for its cool environment. Every Sunday the vendors provide tourists and locals with a great variety of fresh food, from coffee to salt, mushrooms and all kind of organic vegetables. It's a great place to have breakfast or snack something before lunch. Also, you can find nice and original souvenirs, some of them a little bit pricey. It's definitely worth for a pleasant morning in San Diego.

“New found discovery!”
Reviewed 12 December 2013

Wow, this is one of the top Farmer's Markets I've been to. Fresh produce everywhere, flowers, crafts. and food vendors. I picked up a snack at 3 differnt food vendors, 1800 count Egyptian cotten sheets, pestos, and some funky African Barley. Will be returning next time in town.

“A lot of everything!”
Reviewed 15 October 2013

Hillcrest Famers Market is one of the largest and most comprehensive farmer's markets in metro San Diego.

Fresh produce and flowers are, of course, abundant. Musicians play on site. Also find all manner of on-site edibles - crepes, kabobs, fabulous breads, coffee and pastries from Bread et Cie, juices, fruit cups and vegetarian and varied tamales. Although there arent tables for dining, it's easy to 'eat on the go' and stroll through the super tempting array of goods from candles, jewelry, clothing, handmade gifts and potted plants. There is even a chair massage booth! See and be seen as everyone seems to come to this - surfer dudes, Hillcrest fashionistas and just people.

Go on the early side (8:30am) to get good parking and the best selection of produce - organic and non-organic. Bring your own market bag and help reduce plastic.

Gets very crowded about 10 - 10:30am. Dogs on leashes permitted.
