Description: Anthony's Fish Grotto's was established in 1946 by Mama Catherine Ghio. It set and continues to set the standard for fresh seafood dining in San Diego. Mama believed in letting the freshness show through and not using overwrought and fussy preparations. Fresh seafood simply prepared. The waterfront Anthony's sits atop piling over San Diego Bay. The views and sunsets are spectacular. The large dining room can accommodate families and large groups and the Lounge/bar area is perfect for that more intimate dining experience. The menu features an array of seasonal fresh catches along with a multitude of favorites from Fish n Chips to Lobster Tails. Vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options are available.

I liked the food, the service, plus the location is right on the water and the prices were really not that bad if you choose to dine on the left side as your facing the restaurant: the menu here is less expensive.

It has a good reputation and generally lives up to it. We had extremely excellent service and the food was great. Just be prepared to pay a few dollars more than what you normally would.

Even though we had reservations, we had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. The person showing us to our table apologized and our server apologized many times and gave us a free desert. We had twin lobster tails and they were fabulous!! Even though the restaurant was very busy and very full, everyone seemed to be very aware of the need for prompt service. The views of the harbor were great. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a great meal in San Diego.

We have a twenty five year tradition of eating at the "Fishette" out on the deck over the water. LoVE IT!

After visiting the Carrier Midway Museeum we stopped at Anthony's Fish Grotto for lunch. Remembering the 70ties when we used to eat fish&chips in a London diner (served in an old daily newspaper) we selected fish&chips from the menu. Although served on a plate it was just delicious and we had much fun with our waitress.
