This hotel was amazing! We had a wonderful room with a balcony that looked out onto the ocean. I booked the room using the hotel website and requested an ocean view. Vallet parking was $20 a night, but we didn't get charged. JRDN restaurant was great, too! We ate there for dinner and breakfast the next morning. PB seems to be a young upbeat area. I will be staying here again!

The rooms I think were average, but very clean, and the beds were really comfortable -

We had a surf pad looking directly over the ocean, beautiful. I recommend getting a room with the ocean view, it's worth it. We sat on the balcony and people watched and read, it was really nice.

We were on the south most side of the hotel, the farthest from JRDN, which on some evenings can get pretty noisy. We only heard a little bit of music one night, not bad at all.
We were there during the week however, I understand it can get pretty noisy on the weekend.

The hotel is also very close to Seaworld and San Diego Zoo. The San Diego Wild animal park is about 30 miles away, but really worth going to. It was really enjoyable, splurge on a photo safari.

One thing to remember is there is no pool at this hotel, this is usually a deal breaker for me, however, because of the location right on the beach, and there is a patio with some water features and heating lamps for chilly evenings we went ahead with staying here, and it was a really nice experience.
A side note:
Stay away from Anthony's Seafood Grotto on the harbor, it was horrible food.

We can't begin to describe our stay at Tower 23. From the moment that we walked in to the lobby to check in, to the moment that we checked out, we had a wonderful experience. We stayed in a "Surf Pad" room with a 2nd floor balcony that looked out over the ocean. It was a birthday celebration that the hotel recognized with a complimentary room service appetizer and dessert tray. A perfect location to be able to walk to good restaurants, and short drive to La Jolla restaurants, and Gaslamp restaurants.

PROS:
-Rooms were very clean
-Staff was extremely friendly, quick, and accommodating
-We got complimentary sweets upon telling staff that it was our honeymoon
-Food from room service and restaurant was AMAZING, probably the best we ate in San Diego
-We stayed in the Spirit Pad room and the Sanctuary Suite; both were spacious and fabulous.
-Whirlpool in suite was clean and relaxing.
-Location on the beach is beautiful and convenient; the Pacific Ocean is in the hotel's backyard!

CONS:
-Parking was $20 a night, and the only options were the paid hotel parking or street parking, which were mostly tow zones.

WEIRD:
-Bathroom doors didn't lock or close all the way by design; they were open an inch or two - meant for romantic couples only!
-Waterfall feature in the Sanctuary Suite whirlpool; neat at first, but got annoying fast

Overall, we had an excellent experience!

On a recent trip to SD, I planned to propose to my girlfriend. I reserved the Sweet Suite and Tower23 took care of me very well. They were happy to provide and plan for me, roses, petals, candles, choc covered strawberries, and they even set the jacuzzi tub up at just the right time for our surprise, it was amazing! Elizabeth was especially helpful and pleasant.

I was planning the perfect surprise getaway for my boyfriends 25th birthday and Tower23 was the perfect choice for us. The decor was just our taste, clean, modern, simple, and relaxing. The hotel had a wonderful "Sex on the Beach" Package. AMAZING VALUE. We did not have to worry about a thing. Welcome cocktails and a nice complimentary dessert for his birthday was sent to our room as soon as we checked in. Dinner for 2 that included cocktails, an appetizer, 2 delicious entrees and 2 choices of dessert. One was even sent to our room at the end of our night. A cute "Naughty Turn Down Service" was a cute touch added to our room while we had dinner down below at the awesome JRDN restaurant. We had breakfast in bed each morning which was to die for. We started our day a bit late and did brunch; I highly recommend the Lobster BLT. A must! The package also included an in room couples massage that lasted an hour long. It was so relaxing listening to the waves from our balcony. Our therapist were professional and comfortable. Everything was superp!! Our view from the surf pad was excellent! Room 321 was wonderful. The experience waking up to the ocean waves every morning was worth every penny. The service is a true A+ in my book. Smiles were always on everyones faces and Sara at the front desk was truly accomidating to all of my requests! They made my boyfriends surprise as perfect as possible! Everything was timed perfectly. Valet Parking was also a plus. We left quite a bit and they were all smiles everytime! Thanks Tower23 Hotel. Our stay was amazing! We will definitely be coming back!!!

During our stay at the Tower23 Hotel, we met several people from the San Diego area who were staying there as a local getaway. The hotel is quite unique in the area and was a great place for our family of four.

We booked two connecting beachfront rooms and the view is incredible. Some of the beachfront ("surf pad") rooms overlook the courtyard (ours did) so be specific in your request. It was quiet on the deck while we were there but I'd imagine summer weekend evenings would be loud. We liked looking out over the deck with its seating area and fire. Many of the rooms open directly onto the patio - some like it that way, some don't. Again, ask in advance.

The rooms are what you might expect at a trendy hotel. Well-appointed but somewhat minimalist. The beds were great and baths very nice. Not much space to store clothing and with just a couple wall sconces in the room, don't plan on reading in bed too easily.

The staff was great and extremely responsive to any request. They knew the area well.

While we were at the hotel, breakfast wasn't available (I'd suggest you skip the "breakfast" package - basically yogurt and granola). However, Kono's is next door and it's GREAT! We started every day there.
