“Great place to stay for Gaslamp District”

On-line check in service was an easy and smooth process. Loved the glass of wine at check in too! Rooms are modern. Simple yet comfortable. Walls are a bit thin, but not annoying. Would stay there again. Would not recommed for children.

We got a really great deal on Priceline for this hotel and I really enjoyed our stay. Some pros and cons, but overall a great place.

Pros:

-Complimentary drinks in the fridge with snacks that were re-filled daily
- I forgot a hairbrush and they offer numerous things "free". There was toothbrush and toothpaste on the list plus many more ( it comes in handy because I have forgotten toothbrushes on previous trips)
- maid service is amazing!
- room service was great ( If you have time just go up to the roof and get your breakfast to-go) this will save you money in service and delivery fees.
- hotel is beautiful

Cons:
- We came with a baby so we opted for a "quiet" room. We didn't hear any noise from the clubs.
- Parking is expensive. We opted to park right behind the hotel, but it was still pricey.
- It's next to the Salvation Army building so you do see quite a bit of (harmless) homeless people.
- We didn't go out at night because the side of the hotel was a little shady.

Other than that..we had a great trip! The staff were very friendly and check-in and check-out were a breeze. If you can get a good price on this hotel, I would recommend it!

Room Tip: If you want to sleep on the weekends - ask for a "quiet" room

Just back from a trip along the southern California coast and this hotel (and the Andaz in West Hollywood) were the best by far. Great staff - attentive and helpful, lovely location in the Gaslamp district, walking distance to loads of restaurants, and a beautiful place to stay. We had a see-through shower in the room (different!!), king size bed, great free goodies and a wonderful rooftop pool area with day beds. Good breakfast up there too. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel if you're in San Diego.

Stayed here as the last stop of our of holiday driving from San Francisco to San Diego. Although it was pricey it was well worth it. Room was beautiful and free water, soft drinks, crisps and chocolate were provided each day. Rooftop pool was a really good place to chill out for a few hours during the day. It also turns into a nightclub at weekends, but despite the other use reviews on here we didn`t any noise. If we were lucky enough to go back to San Diego would definitely stay here again.

Took a quick overnight trip to San Diego and found this modern hotel right in the Gaslamp. Very attentive staff, clean and modern rooms (ours with the XL King with a completely see through shower -- wonderful for us!) and the hotel is just steps away from lots of dining and bar options. We enjoyed the rooftop bar and pool with some friends -- great environment. The staff was attentive but not too intrusive. We were pleasantly surprised and will return again.

We had a ten day trip staying in Anaheim ( Los Angeles), Newport Beach,San Diego and Palm Springs. The Andaz was the perfect place to stay. Right in the centre and everything in walking distance.Very friendly and helpful staff who greet you quite informally using iPads, and not from behind a desk. There is also a bar and Japanese restaurant, Katsuya, off the foyer which has been designed by Philippe Starck. Valet parking is available and although we didn't think we would use it it is the hassle free way to park. The hotel has fast free wi-fi which is really nice as other hotels had charge a ridiculous $11 per day !
I also had a mis-hap, and didn't realise until the last, (and furthest point away) day that I had left my expensive carbon fibre tripod in my room. 100% my fault but handled really swiftly by very helpful person in the security department, and Fed Ex'ed to me in the UK arriving a couple of days later. We only stayed 2 days here as we war booked in somewhere else in Palm Springs, but wish we had stayed longer.Great breakfast on the roof in the morning, and a rooftop bar for the evenings with good views of San Diego.Highly recommended.

Room Tip: We didn't have a view from our room but it was very contemporary and this didn't matter. A l...

Everything about this hotel made me think we would thoroughly enjoy our stay here when we had a group of 40+ guests book rooms. I would like to say that the hotel itself is neat. Our Cabana Suite was a great concept. However, we never got to use our cabana. They double booked it after confirming more than once with our room coordinator it would be available to us. It wasn't; and we were asked to leave in a conversation that started with " how long will you be here?" The consensus of the group was that the staff felt THEY were doing US a favor. When did this become the way of doing business? We travel frequently and I NEVER leave poor feedback. But this was blatant and terrible service. Needless to say, I don't think our guests will be returning to the San Diego Andaz with all of the other hotel options downtown.
