A boutique hotel with a modern 60's vibe! Fun decor which takes you back to the laid back era of the 1960's, reflected in their contemporary tropical decor. Rooms are clean, simple, and homey. The staff is friendly and accommodating, aiming to make the stay memorable! A decent size pool in the center of the hotel often hosts movie night playing retro classics projected about the lounge area. Definitely would recommend!

Room Tip: Make sure you get the room with the mirrored ceiling and beta fish!

There is no better place to hang out in SD than The Pearl. We have eaten several stellar meals and drank countless delicious cocktails poolside over the past few years and absolutely LOVE the genuinely cool and kind staff and overall laid-back feel of the hotel.
We decided we must show off this gem for our wedding and rented out the hotel for our wedding rehearsal dinner and then our guests filled the hotel for our entire wedding weekend. Locals and visitors alike raved about the awesome hotel vibe, fabulous food and drink quality, and superb customer service. Planning the event was seamless and the venue coordinator accommodated all of our requests, from allowing us to pick custom cocktails to hosting an authentic TJ-style taco bar to playing our favorite wedding-themed movies on their big-screen by the pool. People had so much fun that our friends decided that we need to rent out the hotel every year in honor of our anniversary.
We just hope the place doesn't get too popular that we don't have a place to sit at the bar :)

P.S. 5 star rating for fitness center despite them not having a fitness center because of the easy access to harbor drive with all the running, biking and skating space you could ask for!

A great welcome to this small, comfortable hotel. We had a nice, good sized room (complete with goldfish). Didn't eat in the restaurant but saw lots of people, mostly local, enjoying what looked like excellent food. They don't do breakfast but there are some good places nearby and they do provide excellent free coffee in the lobby. Overall a pleasant stay and would probably use again if in the area.

Room Tip: Away from the road at the front

After having had many excellent dinners here over the years, I recently had my wife's 40th birthday party at the Pearl. We knew the poolside cabana would be the perfect setting for our 8 guests and it didn't disappoint. The staff (Meghan, Nick, Bryan & Jessie and chef) went above and beyond both prior to and the night of to make sure the party was memorable. In fact, they didn't bat an eye when I requested a favorite menu item that was no longer on the menu - if we wanted it they were willing to accommodate. I also requested Bryan, our favorite server, and he did a fantastic job with our group all night. After many of their great cocktails (thanks, Jessie) and great food the evening was capped off by one of our good friends taking a plunge in the pool. SUCCESS! The Pearl was a perfect venue for our celebration.

Hotel has great potential but overall a pretty ordinary experience. We could have just been tired after the long trip and bummed it was coming to an end so I'd rather not dwell on the negatives. We stayed here as part of our return trip from the Mexican Riviera cruise. It looked fun and cool, and from a budget perspective very economical. Our room was comfortable Ok, the grounds were quite funky with movie screen up in front of the pool and corresponding lounge area. There was a private party so we weren't really able to venture our and try the lounge area which was unfortunate because that was the draw that led us to deciding on this place.

We ultimately wound up going to Coronado Island and did some sightseeing and had dinner.

As one review astutely pointed out, If you embrace the experience of this place as a whole, you might love it. Simply as a hotel, without using the bar and restaurants makes. The experience a bit boring.
