The hotel seemed full, and our room was on the 12th floor. During our three night stay, only one of the two lifts (elevators) was working and there were long delays. Our room had a (distant) view of the bay, but no balcony. The restaurant within the complex provided a free breakfast, and advertises dinner, but is closed for dinner on the weekends. Fortunately the 'Little Italy' area starts across the road with plenty of fine restaurants and family cafes available.

The location was good as it was walking distance to the bay, the trolley and the tour depot. It was obviously popular with families and would have been good value with the car park available as well.

Dear Brightievictoria,
Thank you for taking time to review your stay with us at Best Western Bayside Inn. Please except our sincere apologies for any inconvenience due to the upgrade process to our elevators. With the exception of one room on the second floor, all of our rooms have balconies with various views. Thank you for sharing about our restaurant providing breakfast daily and dinner on weeknights.
Best Regards,

I highly recommend the Best Western Plus Bayside Inn. It's worth it to pay more for a bay view. I was able to see the Star of India tallship from my room, even though it was two blocks away. Having an open, true balcony was wonderful at night as well to enjoy the city lights. Clean room, clean pool, clean restaurant. The staff were friendly. Great location for walking to Little Italy for a morning cappuccino or to visit the Maritime Museum.

We stayed two nights. Like the location quite a bit as it is a few blocks away from the San Diego Bay. The all-balcony hotel was great with the nice marine breeze. We placed our room chairs on the balcony and enjoyed an excellent sunset. Front desk staff is friendly and helpful. Plenty of great dining options within rock-throwing distance of the property. Parking lot is extremely tight unless you park on the uncovered top level. Drawback of parking garage is no elevator. There was not a whole lot of noise like many other hotels, except the San Diego Trolley is a block away so many times during the day and night you hear ...DING DING DING DING, but it not seem to be so bothersome. The beds are super comfortable. I slept like a baby. Had stayed here in the distant past too, and I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Top few floors probably have the best view of the bay for "bay side". I imagine the other "city" side is more quiet.

Lovely, clean hotel, very good breakfast. The hotel is close to the harbor and train station. Hotel staff was very helpful and gave information about things to do. I would stay there again. I only wish there was a full supermarket nearby but there was a Rite Aid and 7-11 .

Our room's bathtub would not drain. It took over an hour for someone to come look at it. While they tried to figure out how to fix the problem, my family and I would have to leave the room for an hour or switch rooms. We agreed to switch rooms. 2 hours later we were able to take showers and eat our cold dinner. When asked for compensation for our inconvenience I was told no. It was very obvious that our bathtub would not drain as soon as the water was turned on. I don't understand how housekeeping could have missed it, unless they didn't clean the bathtub. Also their swimming pool is freezing! You know it is cold when your kids don't want to swim in it. The daytime staff was always helpful and very nice. The evening staff a women was very unfriendly and quite rude. The evening staff a man was very nice. I did like the location walking distance to many things and the airport shuttle was nice. But bases on the bathtub experience I would not stay there again and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: Choose a bayside view high up.

Dear Jodene O,
Thank you for choosing to stay with us at Best Western Plus Bayside Inn during your trip to San Diego. We hope you will accept our sincere apology for the inconvenience you experienced with not being able to shower and get comfortable to enjoy your diner while still warm. We understand how that can set the tone for your vacation and are very regretful that our preventative maintenance program did not prevent the drain issue prior to your stay. We are grateful for your feedback about the staff and pool as well; it helps us make improvements when we can see the experience through the eyes of our guests. We hope to have the opportunity to exceed your expectations in the future should you decide to stay again.
