They need to be competitive. Cant believe they charged us for parking. There was no breakfast. I have stayed at many places where the price of the hotel is reasonable and they offer free breakfast. They need to be more competitive. There was no soap in the bathroom. Freezer needed defrosting.

Room Tip: Avoid if you do not want to pay for parking.

Nice place! Rooms are nice, bed is comfortable, grounds are well kept, staff is friendly and helpful. We needed connecting rooms. Front desk suggested their Parlor room, it's a beautiful suite with an extended balcony. Would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: If you're looking for connecting rooms, ask for the Parlor suites. As a bonus, you get an exten...

Very helpful and friendly Staff. The rooms are a bit small, but an overall great experience. Pool bar is fun!
Just about every room has a great view. It is two minutes away from a golf course and 10 walking minutes from the Fashion Valley mall!!

Ok I had a great time at this hotel, but I don’t get the area. There is a string of these resort hotels on hotel circle, which is basically a frontage road of the I-8. Not sure what that is all about. The hotel is fine once you are inside, but not scenic. If you are looking for a beach hotel is not it.

Once in the side the interstate is left being and the hotel is quiet and comfortable. It is built around a pool court yard and conference center. The rooms in the main building are nice and have balconies over the pool. This maybe a good or bad thing depending on what you want. The other buildings are pretty standard. Nothing great and a bit overpriced with views of more parking lots. Service was great and the staff accommodating.

If you are here for a wedding or convention the hotel is fine if not it better than average but not "very Good". Your call.

Room Tip: Try to stay in main building, avoid the other ones.

Stayed at the Handlery which was also the site for my high school reunion weekend. Lovely, well appointed facility, very comfortable beds with extra pillows, a large pool and jacuzzi which is also a must whenever I travel! One surprising critique is that while their breakfast was creative and delicious (I recommend the egg white frittata with goat cheese and the fried apple and almond sliver topped oatmeal!) the catered food for our event was adequate but not stellar. Otherwise the staff was universally pleasant and helpful for all my needs, and we were minutes from the beach, Old Town San Diego and other attractions. Very much enjoyed my stay!

Room Tip: Great king bed in our room! Also some of our friends were in rooms with pool views.

This location was predetermined for a reunion and not our choice. On the negative side: Registration area was chaotic and slooooowww. The bed was truly the lumpiest with a MAJOR dip (we both rolled to the middle) and had to be decades old. Housekeeping threw out my reunion goody bag with my reunion t-shirts that was on the desk. Room service quite literally never answered the phone. We tried for 45 minutes and counted, letting the phone ring 25+ times. Just no answer. Finally left the property to get breakfast for diabetic spouse. Not cool. There is no elevator, but it's only two stories. A/C lacked oomph on an unusually muggy weekend. On the positive side: Using the hang tag for breakfast the next morning DID work. Part of our order was missing, but the staff member realized it immediately and came back with it in less than 10 minutes. Staff in the bar was super nice and attentive, even with a crowd. Hotel had a Plan B in place with our reunion dinner that was supposed to be outdoors but was rained out. Yeah! Great service there! Really great staff for event dinners. I did not find the rooms noisy and did not hear traffic (our room was very near the end closest to the freeway). I'd say this place is fine if you have a family and are on a tight budget because it was very reasonably priced, but it was a bit "roughing it" for our taste. Seriously, the raggedy, lumpy, dippy mattresses NEED to be replaced.

Room Tip: Based on the occupancy when we were there (one or two weddings, two family reunions and a good-sized...
