Clean and comfortable as you'd expect. Great view of the water! Plus, our rooms had balconies, which was awesome. Located near the Gas Lamp District, so we had a lot of options for bars and restaurants. Within driving distance to attractions like the San Diego zoo, the safair, LEGOLAND, etc. Not to mention all the attractions in town. Truly a fun place to be, great weather and all.

Room Tip: If you are booking multiple rooms, make sure they are together. The hotel has two towers, each with...

Worst breakfast food I've ever had at a hotel ever. If you order room service it's $8 to have it brought to your room. Or you can go to the $23 buffet. Could have done better at a gas station. If you stay on the city side, the train will keep you up at night. Ding Ding Ding. .. All night long. The rooms are very nice. Great pool. This hotel is better for families. Singles should look across the street. Hard Rock or Omni. You will be closer to the night life. If you are going to a conference in the convention center the hotels across the street are actually closer. I would not stay here again.

Dear Mr. Kevin,
thank you for staying with us and for providing us with this valuable feedback. We do apologize for not meeting your expectations in regards to food offerings and for the trouble you experienced with the noise from the city trolley. We hope you'll consider giving us another chance and experience the wonderful options we have in our Marina Kitchen's buffet. The food quality is superb and definitely up to Marriott Standards. Thank you again for your comments.
We hope to see you again soon.

Kind Regards,
Enrica Ferruzzi

Like most who've reviewed, it is a great location to most things in San Diego. Check in was really effortless with the mobile app and we were able to check in super early which was great. Room was very nice, large and comfortable but absolutely no toiletries, except the bare minimums so be sure to bring your own q-tips!!

Parking was really a drag. Very expensive even for the self parking. I guess this is typical in a large city but really adds up on your bill! Self parking seems to be the way to go because the valet seemed overwhelmed at peak times, although they were very kind and made you had water, etc. All in all, a nice experience. Would return to this hotel!

The hotel is ideally located just next to the Convention Center and a few streets away from the heart of The Gas Lamp District. The hotel staff is extremely friendly and willing to do whatever it takes to make your stay amazing.

The hotel has 2 pools. One pool is about 3 ft deep and is great for little kids. The 2nd pool is long and twisty and allows for a lot of people to enjoy the pool without being on top of one another. Unfortunately for us, they closed the big pool the day we decided to make a pool day during our stay. The wait staff at the pool is friendly and they serve very good food and drinks. The price is very reasonable.

The gym is very nice and large with a lot of machines to ensure a good workout. They have staff constantly there to answer any questions about the equipment and also to wipe down the machines after they have been used. They provide cold towels and water to help cool down afterwards.

The rooms are nice, not super large, but big enough. Each room has a small refrigerator and coffee maker. The beds are ok, but not the most comfortable i have slept on. The views are amazing. My only complaint about my room was that it faced the city and just accross the street is the trolley stop. The trolley runs till very late at night and starts again in the morning. The noise from the crossing gates is loud and will wake you up every few minutes. Also the street traffic is quite loud.

When I booked this hotel, it was rated 4 stars. I think that is being modest. I would rate it a 4+. It is a great place to stay with your family. I would defintely stay here again, but I would request my room to be located on the other side of the hotel. Please be aware that the price for parking is a bit steep, but to be expected for parking in the city.

Room Tip: Bring ear plugs if your room is located on the city side or request the ocean side.

Requested early check in. Got exactly what I wanted. Friendly and efficient Front Reception, Check In Associates. Room was great. Beds were comfortable. For a large convention hotel, self parking was actually better than I expected. Great grab and go for food and beverages. Some of the food was overpriced for what was recieved. Everyone I came in contact with was friendly and had their smiles on. The only down side was the table clearing at Tequila's Pool Bar was slow. Service and food delivery was fast. Overall the hotel and grounds were well maintained even though one large group was checking out and another large group was checking in. Keep up the great job!

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights, right before the madness of ComicCon 2014 really started.

Pros:
-Great location

Cons:
Valet Parking while outrageously priced was also difficult to understand why it took over 20 mins to get our car, even after we called from our room ahead of time for it. At $45 a day I would expect better service. It's hard to tell if they are under staffed or if management is lacking. Valet parking for 4 days came out to $180 and even after complaining the front desk wouldn't cut us a break on the costs and they're poor service. Shame on you!

Poolside wait staff, not sure if being pregnant meant I didn't want anything, wasn't hungry, or thirsty, but I was confused as to why the wait staff asked everyone around us if they were ok but didn't bother to ask us. I hate to play the race card, but everyone asked if they were ok we're white and the waiter was white. In any event I had to get up and get a drink from the bar myself. Thank you lazy and rude waiters!

Lastly, as gold elite members we were allowed access to the concierge floor for free breakfast, cocktails, desserts, etc. We were traveling as a family of 4 and was again confused as to why we couldn't all go up to eat together. Rather we had to eat in heats, 2 at a time. Ridiculous!

I'm gonna agree with one of the other reviewers this Marriott unfortunately is "overpriced, overconfident, and underperforming!"

I've been to better Marriott locations that actually live up to their category rating.
