I just completed a four day training event @ this facility. From start to finish, several hundred professional Law Enforcement training specialists were pampered. The public areas were spacious, providing ample room for impromptu meetings. The rooms for our meeting sessions were reasonably laid out & easily accessible. Coffee/water break stations were conveniently located. A reasonably priced breakfast was available. We had two "working lunches", and an ample supply of well prepared food was stationed to funnel us into the meeting area. Afternoon cookie & soda breaks were refreshing.
I'd like to single out "GALO", the parking kiosk operator for a superior approach to customer service in solving the logistics of where to (safely) park so many police officer's cars.

Room Tip: did not stay-day training attendee

The person who checked us in gave lots of misinformation to us. He told me that I could use my reward points for my stay! WRONG! He did not tell me that breakfast was included! I had to go to the front desk two times to ask for explanation of my bill, & a breakfast card. Marriott hotels are usually great, that's why we stay at them whenever we travel. My advice..more training of young employees to prevent 30 minutes waiting to check in & misinformation given to an Elite status customer!

Just returned from a four day stay at the Marriott Mission Valley while visiting my son at U of San Diego. I would recommend this hotel for either business or pleasure. The hotel is well located in Mission Valley, close to restaurants, shopping and universities. The hotel appears to have recently renovated. Rooms are good size, with nice bedding, updated TV and comfortable bathroom. Room includes a small refrigerator. Front desk was very helpful at check in and all employees encountered around hotel were nice and helpful. House keeping did a good job cleaning rooms. The 16th floor lounge was nice. Good assortment for breakfast and excellent service. My only real complaint was the lounge was not open Friday evening, nor all day Saturday and closed Sunday for breakfast. Seems like it would be a nice touch to have it open 7 days. Lastly I enjoyed the elite level parking area right in front of the hotel. Aside from the lack of weekend hours in the lounge, the hotel does a nice job taking care of the Marriott Elite members. I'll stay here again on future visits.

Room Tip: Two sides to hotel, freeway and pool. Nice view on freeway side, but some noise, so for more quiet...

Stayed there for four nights while in town for family business. Very nice accomodations! The staff is very friendly and helpful. Nice outdoor areas to enjoy a glass of wine after a long day. Had a great view and was close to everything that we needed. Had an issue with room service one morning, but it was taken care of promptly. We will definatly stay there again!

Room Tip: Get a room on the pool side upper floor - best views from that side. DO NOT get an end room - the...

Stayed at the Marriott Mission Valley for 5 nights in April for business. It was in a great location with easy access to the I8 freeway and very close to lots of shopping and restaurants but tucked away where it was nice and quiet. The hotel lobby, pool, jacuzzi, and gym were very nice with a relaxing resort feel with nice patio furniture and hammocks. The room was updated and nicely furnished with a fridge (empty), desk, couch, king size bed, balcony, and large flat screen tv. The bathroom was a good size with the sink outside in the room with lots of counter space. They also have HBO which allowed me to watch the premier of Game of Thrones. Parking was extra for $18 a day. Wireless was included in the rate we got. Overall, this was a great hotel with no real complaints except the hairdryer sucked so bring your own.

I really loved my stay at this Marriott. The personnel at the front desk were very friendly. The housekeeping does am excellent job at keeping the rooms very clean. This is very close to stores and places to eat within walking distance. I will be patronizing this place again when we go to visit our son.

Traveling in a group usually creates all sorts of problems from missing room reservations, lack of space to accommodate all guests in the party, then topping things off with poor customer service. This is NOT the case at the Marriott Mission Valley.
As the group point of contact, I began receiving email correspondence from the hotel weeks ahead of our arrival date confirming the reservations and asking about any special needs my group might require. Christy Lee is the definition of professional and went above and beyond the entire week to make our Marriott Experience the most memorable in quite a while. The front desk, restaurant and concierge staff only added to our experience by providing friendly world-class service, not often found at such a large hotel.
If you are traveling to the San Diego area you MUST experience this Marriott property. There is ample shopping and restaurants nearby and can catch trolley to downtown right behind the hotel.
