Great location at the end of Grand Ave on the beach. Lively boardwalk separates hotel from beach. Property could stand a little updating, but generally very clean, serviceable rooms. Staff was very cordial and helpful, particularly Juan. Be aware that while most rooms have direct or partial ocean view, there are about a half dozen non view rooms (offered at on-line booking sites). Useable pool in small concrete court with ocean views. On the same half block as the hotel are a city fire station, 3 boisterous bars, and a 24-hour 7-11, so there's a 24/7 urban beach scene going on here that may not appeal to all. Hotel's underground parking garage is worth the $10/day charge as on street parking is almost nonexistent.

Thank you very much for taking the time to provide us with your feedback! You'll be happy to know that although we have renovated and upgraded the property multiple times in the last few years, we are not quite finished! We have quite a few more tricks up our sleeves that our guests will surely enjoy!

Pacific Beach is your typical beach community in California, there is no doubt about it. A combination of young people, families, and retirees constantly walk the boardwalk, eat in the restaurants and bars, and shop on Garnet Ave. The town is by no means dominated by one group or another (although there are certainly louder groups than others hah!), and that is why we successfully advertise ourselves as a family hotel.

Additionally, we have worked very hard over the last few years to form a strong relationship with the local restaurants. We are to the point where not only do they understand and support our mission, but they too benefit from the families and retirees that stay with us - not just the younger generation. Also, in case you were curious, in the over four years I have been at this property, we have never once had a complaint about the fire station around the corner. It's far enough away that any noise the trucks make just blend in with the relaxing ocean sounds.

It sounds like overall you enjoyed your stay. We thank you again for your feedback!

great location! the ocean.... the restaurants.... everything you need is within walking distance of the hotel. easy access to the boardwalk and the beach. the hotel staff was very accommodating and attentive. the hotel itself is very clean and well maintained. we requested a room off the ground floor and facing the ocean. that is just what they had ready for us when we arrived. the room was large enough for our family of four. the only complaint i have is that their free wifi is very slow but you get what you pay for. they do offer a verizon internet service for a fee. i would stay here again in a heart beat.

Thank you very much for such a great review! We're very glad you were able to enjoy your time in the ocean front room and in local beach community.

We do understand your frustrations with the complimentary WiFi speeds. Although we are right on par with industry standards and usually have no problems at all, like most technologies it doesn't work flawlessly. Make sure if you ever have this issue again with us, swing by the front desk and we'll give you a couple more options.

We look forward to seeing you next time!

I found this hotel by chance and ended up staying for four days... It was looking a bit on the tired side when I was there and could probably do with redecorating but it was clean and tidy... The staff were generally helpful, although one or two could do with a refresher in public service, a little unusual for the USA... It's right on the beach front and you can walk to loads of bars and restaurants within in few minutes... I recommend a visit to Joe's Crab Shack... Still on the whole I'd go back... It's a good base if you want to spend some time looking around and there's plenty to see in San Diego...

Room Tip: If you can afford to pay a bit extra, got a sea front room...

We thank you very much for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. You'll be happy to know that although the Ocean Park Inn has gone through a number of renovations and upgrades over the last few years, we are not finished! We have many plans for the future to keep our guests returning.

Customer service is one of our fortes, however, so I would greatly appreciate an email with a further explanation of what you referred to in your feedback. We work very hard to provide the best customer service possible and consequently we take these matters seriously.

Enjoy the rest of your time in the states!

The staff at the ocean park inn have been incredible!!! After traveling 12 hours we found out that booking.com screwed up our reservation. The wonderful staff at ocean park inn moved mountains to accommodate us on an extremely busy summer comicon weekend.
The manager saw our exhausted faces and that of our kids and helped us without hesitation.
The rooms are much bigger than expected. We are on the ground floor with a balcony, the kids love the extra room. Rooms are clean and decorated well. The breakfast is great an open early. Parking is underground.
The hotel is literally on the beach!! The people watching is the best!!
The staff greets us everyone morning, some by name, the personal touch is great. The staff has also recommended some great places to eat and visit.
We will definitely be coming back to the ocean park inn.

We are San Diegans and used to stay at this place regularly. Not so much anymore because the prices have gone through the roof! That's the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars.
It is right on the boardwalk close to the crystal pier. If you don't want to be in the sand, lounge around the pool which sits right off the boardwalk.
The used to offer a continental breakfast. Good quality breakfast with juice available all day.
Bring your bikes if the you can - or rent them. The boardwalk is a great place to walk or ride bikes.

We're glad you were able to make it back to our property, and of course we're always happy to host staycations! It's true, the rates have fluctuated and gradually climbed over the years with renovations, upgrades, and economic highs and lows - but as I've mentioned before on TripAdvisor, our rates remain extremely competitive for Pacific Beach. There isn't another property around that offers the number of complimentary and/or affordable amenities we do!

Our complimentary continental breakfast, for instance, is one of the huge benefits of booking at our property. We have grown the breakfast to include as much as possible while still keeping it "continental," and thus offer a wide variety of choices every morning.

If you forget to bring your bikes next time, swing by the front desk for some local, very affordable bike rental coupons. Thank you for the review!

We spent 5 nights through the 4th of July holiday. We (3 of us)stayed in the oceanfront King room on the 3rd floor. It was a tad small but the view could not be beat. We spent alot of time watching and listening to the ocean. Two different days we got to see a school of dolphins swimming around, right from our balcony. We didn't feel like fighting the traffic for fireworks but were able to see them from our balcony. The people watching (the boardwalk) was so much fun too! Breakfast is free and basic. We would walk to Kono's(fabulous breakfast and lunch place) if we wanted something more. The Green Flash restaurant was also just a 2 minute walk from Hotel and very good. We also liked World famous restaurant. The Firehouse restaurant was good too but is a very popular night club type hangout. The hotel was careful not to let the clubbers overtake the hotel. They had a huge bin of sand chairs and toys for guests to take to beach, very convenient. The staff the entire stay could not have been nicer. Patrick went out of his way to help me plan our SeaWorld trip. Be aware, the prices are very high in the summer but not too bad in off season. The rooms are very average for the price but the location just cant be beat! If you are looking for a quiet area, away from alot of people, this is not the location you want! But if you want excitement, and lots of diverse people, come here! We will be back!

Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed review! We would all love to see any pictures you may have of the dolphins from your balcony! Post them on our Facebook page if you can! This time of year many of our guests who book ocean front rooms have a very good chance of seeing the dolphins swim by or play in the waves.

It sounds like you got to visit many of our favorite restaurants in the area! Pacific Beach has such a wide variety of choices - and if you stop by the front desk, we have menus and coupons for many of them!

We're happy to hear the location and customer service made your stay so enjoyable. Make sure you sign up for our newsletter to receive any specials we may be running for next time!

The adults enjoyed early am coffee and breakfast poolside. The teens enjoyed late comp breakfast. Staff knows the local restaurants well and recommends those to match requests. All of us appreciated the bin of borrow ready beach chairs, towels, buckets.

Room Tip: Third floor cuts out boardwalk and late night noise.
