“Bad Experience not recommended”

We came to San Diego for an athletic competion. I booked our room 3 weeks in advance with the hotel itself. Not at any time did the clerk that took the reservation point out, that on the weekend we were to stay, was a yearly festival on the boardwalk and a soundstage with live music direclty next to the hotel. We arrrived on Friday the halls had a funny smell the couch in the room was disgusting and you had to put a towel over it ,in order to sit. The room had a great view however you could not go outside on to the balcony on saturday due to the blarring music and noise from the boardwalk. After the music stopped the clean up and breakdown of the tents began. The doors and draperies were closed and the noise was still unbearable. After being in a competion all of saturday with a second day to follow we needed to sleep which was impossible. The people at the front desk were nice the Assistant Manager has an attitude.I will never stay in this hotel again or recommend it to anyone.

This hotel is located directly on the Promenade on Pacific Beach, which means you just need to step out of your room to be on the beach.
We had a room with partial ocean view - strongly recommended! We had the swimming pool below our room, and then the ocean at a (short) distance. The room was pretty large and comfy.
Breakfast and Internet access was included. The staff was also very helpful in assisting us with our trip planning. Overall, our stay at this hotel was a highly positive experience!

Was hesitant about this hotel after reading some of the reviews and my fears came to life as soon as we checked in. We had a room on the first floor with a kitchenette which smelled awful - evidently a souvenier from the last meal cooked there. The hotel is very outdated. I was told by the very nice desk clerk (who took me around the hotel attempting to find us another room) that they are in the process of updating???? Not to sure about that. Hotel is right on the strand. There is no A/C in the hallways and it appears that windows are usually kept open. We were supposed to stay two nights but left after one. Probably a great place for families on a budget with small children. Oh yeah, continental breakfast is juice boxes and poptarts basically. It is a good location though.

this hotel had great reviews on "trip advisor"....but for the $$$ truly it is one of the best values in san diego!!! we stayed at pacific terrace a few years ago, but ocean park inn is by far the better value. no "bells and whistles" but just a comfortable place to stay. all the restaurants, shops and bars are just blocks away. and you just can't beat the ocean view room we had. the staff was very friendly and accomodating to all of our needs. we were with family and they also agreed, we will all be back!

This is our second stay and second review of this hotel. the first was 2007. we have stayed at nicer hotels but this has turned in to be our favorite place. it doesnt have plush rooms or turn down service. u dont get a mint on ur pillow. however, u will get a relaxing and enjoyable stay on the beach. It is right on the beach overlooking the boardwalk. the rooms are in need of updating and remodeling but you can NOT beat the view. Watching the sunsets over the ocean doesnt get any better than So-Cal. The staff was helpful and freindly. the breakfast was free. no frills. but the room has a fridge and theres a grocery store across the street. Ocean Beach and San diego has a ban on alcohol on the beach. it wouldve been nice to have a beer and sit on the beach but there are plenty of bars on the boardwalk. we stayed for four nights this time from sunday - thursday. it is so laid back there we will go again. we always have in-n-out burgers and su casa mexican restaurant in la jolla but we fell in love with wahoos fish tacos in point loma. Cant wait for our return.

My husband and I normally stay away from busy beach areas but the Ocean Park Inn made it easy. It is located right on the boardwalk and right on the beach in Pacific Beach. The rooms are large and comfortable and clean. We were concerned about the noise and the crowds but it just has not been an issue. We have our dbalcony door open as we speak with the roar of the waves in the background muffling any other noises. People are exceptionally friendly and the beach is big enough to absorb any crowded feeling.

The staff has been great. They gave wonderful recommendations on a variety of things, and went out of their way to take care of a few minor requests. There are a number of great restaurants within easy walking distance, along with a Starbucks and full grocery store right across the street. It is also centrally located to most major attractions in the San Diego area.

Our favorite part of our vacation has been to get up early in the morning , take our Starbucks coffee out to the beach and do our morning meditation. Then we take our boogie boards out and ride the waves, do a little sight seeing and come back for a wonderful view of the sunset. It has been a great vacation so far and I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

I got a room here for one night to celebrate my birthday. I payed pretty close to $400 for it which was totally not worth it. But I wanted to be close to the nightlife in the area. Myself and three other friends stayed the night in the room. All in all it could have been worth it, except a week after staying there i noticed on my credit card statement they had charged me $250. When I contacted them to ask what the charge was about, they said they had found cigarette ashes on the balcony the next day while cleaning and they had photographic evidence. The staff was rude and uncooperative when I explained that nobody that was in the room is a smoker. So i asked for a copy of the pictures. One woman i spoke with agreed to send them via e-mail. But when i spoke to her manager a minute later the manager said that they photos werent taken with a digital camera and they wouldn't pay for the film to be developed. Then she proceeds to tell me that there were ashes all over the carpet in the room and it smelled heavily of smoke. All of this are blatant lies. This place is a total SCAM!!! It's ridiculous and I feel taken advantage of after paying such an insane amount for a crappy hotel room. NEVER stay here. You can get the same kind of room a few blocks away for way cheaper. And probably a much friendlier staff.
