Traveling with young children, this hotel had everything we needed--great complimentary breakfast, including making your own waffels which the kids enjoyed. The bathroom and room were really clean and the service excellent. They had a great variety of movies you could borrow at no charge (lots of kids movies). The swimming pool was a great size for children...we really enjoyed the pool. I would highly recommend this hotel; it is reasonablely priced, very clean, and the staff friendly and helpful.

Nice hotel very close to old town and seaworld, pool area was much appreciated and was heated .Breakfast was good enough to keep you going till lunch. My only quibble would be the rooms are awfully dark and the energy efficient bulbs dont emit a huge amount of light .

I recently stayed at the Old Town while I was visiting my father last week. I have nothing but nice things to say. Each room is equipped with a DVD player and the lobby has a surprisingly diverse selection of films. The heated pool is warm and refreshing. I highly recommend this hotel.

We went to San Diego twice in the last year to go to Seaworld, we stayed here both times. Once we had a car, the other time we did not and took the local transit.

We walked down to Old Town on our first night both times and had dinner at Berta's on recommendation from a local. What a wonderful restaurant, small, and cozy, fantastic food and service.

The next day, we walked to the transit area and took the bus to Sea World, the next time we went ~ the following Oct. We decided to take our rental car and pay to park in the parking lot at SW -- Bus is pretty handy to the motel (About 5 mins walk) and drops you at the front door to SW, I would use it for sure with no hesitation if we were in San Diego again.

We enjoyed sitting around the pool having our breakfast each morning and planning our day. We used our laptop and got free HS internet at the pool and in the breakfast area.

The pool is not huge, but certainly does the trick, we enjoyed the foliage around the pool and watching the hummingbirds. There is also a bbq that you can use on premise around the pool for your own cookouts.

My mother and her friends also stayed here overnight prior to a cruise and liked it as well.

I would stay here for sure and recommend it to others as a basic, clean and well situated property.

I really liked this hotel. The staff were wonderful and quite helpful in providing advice about visiting Old Town and things to do in San Diego. In the lobby/reception area, there was a table set up with ice water, coffee, etc., which was very convenient and appreciated. There is a little sitting area off of the check-in area with brochures galore, so you can sit & relax, drink coffee & look at brochures. Adjacent to this is the place where they serve breakfast. They really do serve a nice breakfast, waffles, etc. The hotel rooms are nice. Nothing fancy, but pretty spacious, clean and comfortable. Overall for the money, I thought I did pretty well in booking this hotel. Good value for the money.

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights (July 22-27) so that we could attend Comic Con. We have stayed at this hotel for 3 other past trips and it is perfect everytime. The location is outstanding especially for this trip since we used the Trolley to get to and from the Convention Center each day and then we drove around a bit on our last day to do some sightseeing and it is a quick trip to anywhere you need to go in San Diego. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet which was a big plus after several long days at the convention. The breakfast was great and helped to tide us over until we got a chance for lunch. We stayed in an economy queen room in the older building and had no complaints about anything. We were happy to find a DVD player in the room and a selection of DVD's to borrow from the lobby but we were so tired each night that we never got a chance to use them. All in all a great stay!

It's good value for money; clean for a motel-style place, good sized rooms, acceptable breakfast and a fantastic location right next to the Old Town public transit hub for buses, metro and even Amtrak.
The downside: the noise. If you end up in the 'original building' then bring earplugs and it'll be fine - otherwise the noise from the busy road, the buses, the trains is very intrusive. Sometimes a heavy truck or someone slamming the garage doors can make the bed shake!

Otherwise, the staff are great, the free wifi worked brilliantly! I'd stay again, but might consider one of the more expensive rooms to see if they're more protected from the traffic noise...
