My boyfriend and I stayed at the Old Town Inn when we flew into San Diego for a couple of nights. The location is perfect because its near Old Town and its not far from the airport (more importantly it is easy to find!). The hotel has a nice atmosphere there is lots of plants and the hotel staff are really friendly. Breakfast is available which consisted of muffins, fruit, waffle maker, etc. We got the Queen Economy room which suited our needs and was still a good size with a walk in wardrobe. The room was clean and there was plenty of parking spaces available. You could also check out DVDs (one at a time). We went to the Gaslamp and surrounding areas which was less than a 15 minute drive from the hotel. Overall I would use this hotel again.

We stayed here last year for our first ever trip to San Diego. The room was ok, but certainly nothing flash. And whilst the trolley station was not far away, and it was reasonably close to Seaworld, the immediate area was VERY industrial, so I don't imagine you'd want to be out wandering around at night. I admit, it was one of the more reasonably priced hotels we stayed in, but we were travelling with another family by this stage of our trip, and their finances had to be taken into consideration. I wasn't UNHAPPY with anything much in particular (although little things like a constant shortage of hot water in the lobby were annoying, especially as we weren't able to get a room with a kitchenette), but similarly, I wasn't impressed with anything, either. Next time, I think I would spend the extra and stay somewhere else.

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. We are a small hotel with a single-minded dedication to consistent service, quality, and value. The Old Town Inn is definitely in a unique area for a hotel. One benefit of being in a more industrial setting than a typical commercial setting is that it tends to be very quiet at night since there is not a lot of traffic. I will freely admit that it may not be what people are used to but the majority of our guests enjoy the convenience of our property - short walk to the Transit Center, walk to Old Town, 2 miles from Sea World, 3 miles from the Zoo, 3 miles to Beaches, and 2 miles to Downtown and the Convention Center. We joke that we are nowhere but next door to everywhere.

When you mention the shortage of hot water in the lobby I’m assuming you speak of the hot water carafe. I’m sorry for this inconvenience. We take our guests’ comments seriously - we’ll be speaking with our staff to make sure they check the carafe more frequently.

Our rates are very economical and we don’t charge for breakfast, internet, parking or coffee. Our company culture is to provide outstanding customer service, quality and value to our guests. We manage two hotels in San Diego, we are proud that both are in the top 12 on TripAdvisor.

Thank you again for your review. We do appreciate the comments.

Location was pretty good, especially if you want to go to Old Town. It is, however, on the side of a major highway, which is odd... but worked out for me because it was easy access to the highway so we could go to the zoo and such.
The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. If you are planing on going to the zoo or other attractions, you can buy your tickets at the check in desk for a discounted price!!!
Upon check-in, I got a very nice up-grade for a good deal.. and they were willing to haggle a bit :) Free breakfast was so-so, but hey.. it was free.
The rooms were nice and clean... highly recommended!

Old Town Inn on Pacific Highway s a convenient place to stay when visiting the Old Town district of San Diego. It is in walking distance both to Old Town San Diego State Historic Park and the Old Town Transit Center where one can access buses and the blue and green trolley lines. The blue line runs through many sites of interest to tourists as well as all the way to the border with Tijuana, Mexico. Day passes cost just $5.00 and are good on buses as well as the trolley. The staff at Old Town Inn is exceedingly friendly and helpful. The free breakfast and pool add to the enjoyment of being there. My wife and I did not drive to San Diego but had no trouble getting around. Our only taxi rides were from and to the airport. As an inexpensive, Old Town located, and friendly place, this is a good place to stay.

If you are looking for a quiet and comfortable room, I highly recommend this hotel. The pool area is surrounded with beautiful plants and it is very clean. The hotel staff is pleasant and there is a FREE continental breakfast (waffles, cereal, fresh fruit, toast, bagels). There is a dvd player in every room and the hotel has a small selection of movies to rent for free. My brother and I stayed in one of the economy rooms and were very happy. The room is small, but it is perfect for 2-3 people. The price per night is incredible for San Diego! The hotel is close to the main attractions and beaches, but I wouldn't stay here if you don't have a car.

I stayed here two different times and was very impressed. My rooms were immaculate and the staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly. The hotel is located in an industrial area, so, if you are without a car, any shopping or restaurants within walking distance is limited to Old Town. However, the trolley stop is just a block from the hotel, and you can easily get to downtown restaurants or other attractions in San Diego. The trolley also goes to the border. I read a previous comment about the hotel being in an unsafe area. However, I'm a 74 year old woman, and I felt no qualms about walking alone to and from the trolley or Old Town. I plan to stay here again whenever I'm in San Diego.

We stayed at Old Town Inn with our two children. They appreciated the pool and the wide selection of free DVD's that they could watch in the in-room DVD player.

We appreciated the great breakfasts, and the fabulous service by the staff. Anna and others at the front desk could not have been more helpful. They arranged van cabs for us, got us tickets to the places we wanted to go, and gave us directions to good restaurants.

Our only quibble was that the hide a bed that our kids slept on could have used a better mattress.

When we return to San Diego, we will definitely return to the Old Town Inn.
