I stayed one night. Close to the airport, good location. The room was clean. The breakfast was good. The staff, correct. The parking lot access very narrow. Good hotel in general, nothing to complain about it.

Very friendly staff, very clean place all around, fitness center/pool/jacuzzi were great, walking distance to "Little Italy" which has tons of restaurants, shuttle to/from airport (so really don't need a car), would definitely recommend to anyone.

I would have to say that this hotel could use a little updating for sure. The room service food was about as awful as can be (found plastic pieces in my chicken noodle soup), and don't even try to fit a car into the parking garage here. But the staff was very courteous, and they had a great demeanor about them. The room was also okay, though the faucet continually dripped in the bathtub. This wouldn't be an ideal place to stay if you were going to be in the room for a long period of time. But, the location is great. Close enough to the new Ballast Point tasting room that you can stumble home, and walking distance to the Harbor and the gaslamp!

Stayed there for three nights in January. Check-in was easy. Great corner room and ample space for everything. Missed the blueberry muffins found in other DoubleTree hotels, but fresh strawberries were great. Walking was easy to many attractions, and public transportation was close. A drawback is that the shuttle does not run early enough for a 6:45 am flight. And, they increase the price of postage stamps in the hotel gift shop. A word to the wise, put out the sign if you want your room clean while you are out and about. Oh yes, the flight path for the airport is overhead so you might want a lower floor room

Room Tip: Ask for a corner. They are near the elevators but quiet enough on the lower floors.

We had a great experience at the Doubletree in downtown San Diego. We stayed for 4 nights in January 2014. The hotel is very conveniently located with easy access to the highway and everything to see in San Diego. The Hotel is walking distance to all of the activity in Little Italy, and the Little Italy Farmer's Market was right next to the Hotel (Saturdays). Our room was very clean and well kept, comfortable. We were on the 22nd floor with a view of the airport and freeway a little noisy, but not bad with the door closed), enjoyed watching planes landing. There was a view of the bay from the balcony. Overall, a very pleasant experience for a great price; great value!

17 of us for dinner. No one else in restaurant. They did not have enough menus for 17 people. A piano player who was so loud & poor acoustics we asked him to stop. The restaurant ran out of Tomato soup when we were the only people in there. It took 40 minutes to fill the tub with medium hot water at 5:30 Pm. I was on 18th floor. Food was GREAT, so was service at desk and restaurant and bar. Meeting room was fine. Airport pick up was very good.

The location was very good. Mostly the front desk was very helpful but their idea of a short walk varied from eight blocks to fifteen not a big deal if you are 50 or younger but at 74 it can present problems Dolly checked us in and was very helpful with suggestions to accomplish the most during our stay. The wireless had to be restablished daily even though we were there for four days and prepaid. Rooms were comfortable.
