A group of 4 people stayed in a two floor room on the 22nd floor and we thought we would have more than enough space due to the look from the pictures. When we walked in, we were surprised to see that the room was a lot smaller than shown in pictures. We made the space work but would've rathered chosen a two queen room instead for less money. The pull out bed was extremely uncomfortable and pricing for parking is a bit expensive at $25.00 per day. The elevators take forever to go up and down.

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend in August. We were able to book using some of our Hilton Honor points in conjunction with money- so we got a really good rate.

Pros:
-Location: right off the freeway. Very, very easy access to the parking garage from the freeway off ramp. This hotel is like a 5 min walk from Little Italy- total win! There are SO many great places to eat in Little Italy. Bonus- if you are in to taking public transit instead of driving (highly recommend a trolley pass!) the closest station is actually in Little Italy, just a block or 2 down past India St.
-Parking: a secure parking garage with access only to guests
-Beds: The bed was super comfy and had great pillows

Cons:
-Parking: $25/night. Not unheard of in San Diego, in fact most downtown hotels charge per-night parking fees, its just something to consider when booking.
-Elevators: I don't know WHAT the issue was this weekend with their elevators- they were SUPER slow, and at least HALF of the people who got in to the elevator had room key cards that wouldn't work (you have to insert your room key to get to any of the floors that contain guest rooms)
-Air Conditioning: This hotel DOES have air conditioning, but our unit was working WAY to hard and not cooling the room nearly enough. That being said, we were still ok- its not like it was sweltering or anything.
-View- this hotel is downtown and there is not much of a view. We were told upon check-in that we were in a room with a view of the pool. Lies. Our view was actually of another building's pool across the way...

All in all, I would stay here again if we got a decent price- otherwise, I would stay closer to the Gaslamp District.

I first want to say that the staff was very nice. However, the power going out, needing to swap out my key card 3 times, my remote control needing to be replaced 3 days in a row, and the elevators were slow and the parking was terrible. My experience was awful at the Double Tree and I will be second guessing ever staying at one again.

Nice size room. Clean. No refrigerator or iron, which would have been better than a coffee pot. The view from the 14th floor was great. Glad there was a balcony. Wasn't prepared to spend a minimum of $10 in the gift shop because I used a credit card. The staff were friendly and accommodating to my needs. I've stayed at the same location in the and will probably do so again in the future.

We stayed because of the $125 government rate. I wish we had given more weight to the low ratings here. Place smelled musty at best (mold?). There was no fan or towel rack in the bathroom and no trashcan in the bedroom. Just a lot of annoyances that make no sense. You can do better.

Room Tip: Stay 16th floor or above to minimise the noise from interstate.

Nice hotel as expected, ask for a room near the top and either facing the water or so you can watch the airplane come in over the city (kids really like this). Hotel seemed safe, parking in the ramp was not a problem. Pool on the 5th floor is small but good views, they have a bar at the pool which is also very nice. Shuttle to and from airport is also nice. Would stay again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the top either facing the water or airport so you can watch the planes land.

Stayed at this hotel in July 2014.
* Location is great. It is right by Little Italy so wonderful restaurants and ~ 20 min walk from Convention Center/Petco Park.
* Transportation. They provide a free shuttle to/from the airport. After calling from the airport, only waited ~ 10 minutes for the driver and very welcoming. Going back to the airport, however, they never tell you that you have to sign up for a time. After signing up, we were told they leave every half hour. At the 3:30 point, the driver said there was not enough people (5 people waiting) so we had to wait until 4:00. This made for a stressful trip back to the airport, making sure we had time to get through the long lines at check-in.
* Check-In/Out. The staff at the reception desk were always very friendly and welcoming. Only hiccup was they took our number to call us when our room was ready and they never called.
* Pool. The person at the bar was very helpful and friendly at the pool. Only comment is it would help to put up some umbrellas because there is no shade and the wicker loungers are uncomfortable.
* Housekeeping. This was the biggest downfall. 2 out of 4 days our room was not cleaned. When we called for towels, they never brought them so we had to call the front desk for help.
* Restaurant. I would avoid the restaurant. The staff are rude, the wait is long, and the food was burned. Recommend Burger Lounge down the street and the many Italian restaurants in the area.
