“Great repurposing of a classic building”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 April 2014

This was a total redo of a classic old downtown bank building in San Diego. They saved the bank floor and made it into one of the best lobbies in town. Even repurposed the vault in the basement into a conference room. Rooms on upper floors have views, so ask for them. Rooms on lower floors are nice, but you look out onto another window, like someone's office. Upper floor gets a partial harbor and ocean view. One thing that I found odd was the room art. There was an etching in the bathroom of a giant octopus, like 20,000 Leagues ugly, that could give some people nightmares seeing it in the middle of the night.

Room Tip: Go for an upper floor.

This hotel has great customer service. The staff was all very helpful and nice. It was near going down to see the old bank vaults in the basement. The fitness center was one of the best I've seen. My only complaints are the $36 daily parking fee (valet only), and that the room walls seemed a bit thin. That, or maybe we had a parties going on in adjoining rooms.

I recently stayed at the Courtyard Marriott, and we were greeted by some of the friendliest staff. They made my friends and I feel welcomed from the moment the valet helped us, to the moment we checked in at the front desk. We had a great view from our room and everything was walking distance, which made our stay even better. I've already recommended the hotel to friends and plan on returning soon.

I cannot overstate the excellent customer service we experienced all through-reception/front desk. Sergio help us and went the extra mile to solve my queries, suggestions as to where to eat, and so on. Housekeeping, dining area couldn't have been nicer! Our room was very well done and kept.

This hotel exceeded my expectations and would not hesitate to recommend to anyone. We will be back for sure.

My family and I stayed at this property for a Cheer competition and we were blown away! When we arrived, Alexandra quickly checked us in and was able to offer us several suggestions for dinner. She was very helpful and friendly! The lobby was beautiful, clean, and well decorated. We headed towards the elevators to our room and it felt like we stepped back in time. Everything in this hotel is beautifully restored. The rooms are very comfortable, clean, well decorated, and spacious. I can tell they take good care of this property and take great pride in what they do. We did take one of Alexandra's suggestions for dinner and were very pleased! After dinner we visited the vault room in the hotel and learned about the history of the hotel, which was just another layer of awesomeness for this property. The location of the hotel is great, too. It's right in the Gaslamp district so you can pretty much walk anywhere in the area. We will definitely be back soon! This quickly became our favorite hotel and we only stayed one night! Great staff, great location, beautiful hotel, and amazing history!!!

Green Features: This hotel is very environmentally friendly. The night we stayed they "went dark" for an hour for earth hour in the lobby. Everything seemed very green!

From check in to check out everything went smoothly. Nice hotel, great bed and a good location. On top of that Jillyin that worked in the lounge was a wealth of information She welcomes you with a big beautiful smile and is very helpful in finding a place for dinner and things to do after.

This is simply an amazing hotel. The lobby is very well done and my room was great. I recommend the Ocean View room. Hotel is in a great location downtown and literally minutes away (walking) from some great restaurants. The Gaslamp District is also walking distance from the hotel. I had a great stay and highly recommend this hotel.
