Description: Assegai has been in business for 26 years in the same location. Our specialty is Chicago Deep Dish Pizza! We also make NY style thin crust as well as pastas. Homemade Lasagna and all the dough and our pizza and pasta sauces are all made from scratch. Home made Cannoli as well!

My husband and I ate here after spending most of the day at Coronado beach. They have pastas plus deep dish Chicago style pizza and New York style pizza. You could buy whole pizzas or pizza by the slice. We got the New York style with everything and a pitcher of beer. The pizza was fantastic! The crust, which I don't usually eat was too fresh and delicious to leave on the plate. The place is definitely not fancy, but sits right on the bay. There is very little indoor seating. Some seating on a front porch and some in back in a patio setting. It was not cheap by pizza standards. There was not a great selection of beer. They had three on tap and a few selections in bottles. Again this place is nothing fancy, but if you are in the area and want some good, fresh tasting pizza, it will hit the spot.

We have been spending the entire month of June in Coronado, CA. We rented a condo so we have been cooking 98% of our time here.

However, we decided to take a break and eat at San Diego's Seaport Village. It's a tourist area on the water with many restaurant and shops. It's very nice there. For people attending conventions, etc. it's an easy place for a lunch break or for dinner.

We have 3 children and all of us wanted different kinds of foods to eat so Seaport makes that easy, too.

Two of our children wanted pizza and once I went into Assaggio's it smelled so good that I decided I wanted pizza, too! We're from Austin, TX and there is no good pizza there - we lived in the NYC area for 5 years and I really had not eaten pizza since then (that was 10+ years ago!).

We ordered a pie and it was so good (thin crust) -- just enough for 3 people ($20 for the pie). Since it was for 3 of us it was well priced.

I recommend this restaurant - we ate outside so I didn't pay much attention to how clean the inside tables were, etc. (as other reviewers had mentioned).

Seaport Village is a wonderful destination for San Diego Visitors. While attending a conference nearby, we visited Seaport Village every day for three days, testing various places to eat.

At first, we enjoyed vendors in this area who specialized in seafood, but on the third day, we began settling into our old habits and venturing more toward burgers and pizza.

Asaggio Pizza offered fairly quick service in the food court area as well as refillable softdrinks without additional cost. In addition to a great option of Chicago or New York style pizza sold by the slice or by the pie, the pricetag was spot-on for tourists who have grown weary of paying $10 - $20 for lunches. A slice with a drink priced our at around $5 at Asaggio, and the slice was pretty tasty.

Although not a destination eatery, Asaggio is perfect for a reasonably-priced lunch in a high priced tourist area.

We were in Seaport Village a fancied a quick bite with a view of the ocean, so called in here. The pace was far from clean but not too bad. We waited a long time for two rolls, which were really not great when they were finally ready.
It's a fairly self service place - collect your own drink/cutlery, collect your food when called and clear up after yourself which might explain why the tables & floors were so dirty.
The best thing about this place was the view.

We were on our way to a football game and didn't have much time for food so stopped here. First of all, just walking into the place gave a bad first impression because there wasn't much of a crowd, but a lot of the tables were dirty. The staff seemed very tired and listless. We ordered a couple of slices, and the pizza was not to bad, nothing great, but not bad. We finished up our food and were cleaning up our area when we noticed several of us had pizza sauce on our clothes. The sauce had been spilled on some of the adjacent chairs and never cleaned up, and we had brushed against it. Can't blame the staff for someone else spilling and not cleaning it up but it was an exclamation point to an experience I can only describe as unsavory.
