Took a day trip to Canaveral National Seashore during our week long stay in Orlando. Have 2 kids ages 5 & 9. We took Black Point Wildlife Drive 1st, which was fine, was hoping to see some Gators but mostly saw lots of different birds. Next stopped at the Manatee Viewing area and did see 5 Mantee's floating in the water right next to the viewing platform. Also saw a Jellyfish floating right under the water line. We ran into a couple locals who recommended going on the "Bio Lab Road" if we wanted to see Gators. So we actually followed them (they were showing some freinds around- touring)
and we saw several Gators in the Marsh along the Bio Lab Road. It was really neat for the kids to see. It connects to hwy 402 that heads to the south end of the beach so we went to the beach (Playalinda beach) from there. The beach is fabulous. All natural, not commericalized, no hotels.
The boys loved it and it was so pretty. You can see the Launch Pads at Kennedy SC from there. Could see shuttle Endeavor on the Launch pads. Got to see a Rocket Launch (probe going to Jupiter) the day we were there too. Very Cool & perfect timing. We spent the rest of the day relaxing on the beach & the kids had a great time. The only thing wish I would have brought a beach umbrella and a cooler/snacks. Beautiful area & highly recommend.

Skip Gatorland and see gators for much cheaper in the wild. Finish the day up with a swim at the quiet beach. Amazingly beautiful

This beach has no buildings along the shore, and this contributes to how beautiful it is. We went two days in a row and I was surprised at how many people were there, but we still found a quiet spot. The first day we were at parking spot #3 and the next at #9. Once you park it's a short walk over a boardwalk to the beach. We never saw any nudists. Apparently you have to go to the very last spot which I think is #13. So no worries if you're not into that thing, but now you know where to go if you are. Before hitting the beach we went to Black Point Drive (definitely get a map if you can) and did some birdwatching. We were in my boyfriend's jeep, but I'm sure my Honda Civic could have made it through as well although it would not have been nearly as fun.
It does cost $3 per person to get into the park, but we were there for National Park Week so it was free. I will definitely be back.

We went to the north park and was delightfully surprised. Very nice drive, Eldora house is interesting. The beach at the end of the road was.beautiful and unbeknownst to us had a few peeps in birthday suits tanning out there. We did not notice until about half mile in! just looked at the surf on our way back instead ;)

This place is really nice. It shows how beautiful the entire shoreline used to be. Definitely put this on your list. Stay away from parking lot #5.
