“Awesome beaches and visitor center”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 June 2014

Beautiful beaches, undeveloped, and clean. A small visitor center has some neat exhibits, a film and great store. They do night turtle watch programs in the summer, but it didn't have time to stay for one. I hear they are very popular. Kayak opportunities in the park, too. Wish I had a few days to stay.

“Pristine beaches and plenty of wildlife viewing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2014

I hate to recommend this national park publically, because we love having this place practically to ourselves! The Canaveral National Seashore is part of the National Park Service – so a park fee is required for entry and access hours can be limited (if you are a senior, ask for the senior pass that will get you – and sometimes guests in your car - into national parks free for the rest of your life!). We never fail to see some kind of wildlife on our drive in - be it wild boar, gators, manatees, rabbits, turtles, tortoise, raccoon, opossum, snakes, and bird life of all kinds! Don't exceed the speed limit like we see so many do, because you don't know what you might miss - or run over (because many of these animals we’ve seen right next to or ON the road – including huge gators, which make for nasty speed bumps)! The Kennedy Space Center is just next door, and you can easily spot the VAB and launch pads. There are also several side roads that take you along scenic paths, and walking trails. Turn off and park at Eddy Creek for views of the Mosquito Lagoon, and where you can launch a boat, or canoe or kayak. We’ve seen manatees right next to shore here! And snakes…. LOL! As you get beachside (Playalinda), there are 12 turnoffs just at the side of the road for you to choose from. Each has generous parking and a convenient bathroom, with minimal but welcome facilities. DO NOT WALK ON THE DUNES! There are boardwalks leading from each parking area up over the dunes and onto the beach. The beaches here may not be white sand or manned with lifeguards (so beware if you swim), but the views, wildlife and remoteness make this place spectacular! What you will get area wide swaths of sand, and stunning views of the ocean, with no cars allowed to ruin the experience. The day we were there sea turtles had come up onto the beach overnight to lay eggs, and we saw their tracks clearly dug into the sand (do not disturb their nests, clearly marked by rangers as soon as they are found). Surf fishing can be pretty good, depending on the season. Warning: We come out here three or four times a year, and for the first time ever there were biting gnats all over the parking areas - some more than others (we tried two - 12 where they chased us away they were swarming so badly and 5 were they were less but still present). We came out to fish but didn't stay, that's how bad they were - even, sadly, following us onto the beach. We will return though. This place is a natural gem, with a big taste of what Florida is really all about.

“Best beach in Florida”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 June 2014

Simply put, I loved Canaveral, and I want to spend more time there. We visited just to use the beach, but I was fascinated by the pristine dune system. The dunes are beautiful, and the beach is exactly what a beach should be. There weren't too many people there, but there was a lifeguard, so we had a good feeling about it. The surf was fairly intense, so we had fun just kind of body surfing in the waves. One plus to the Canaveral beaches is that you can see the launch facilities of Kennedy Space Center to the south. When I looked to the north, there was gorgeous beach and untouched dunes as far as I could see. When I looked south, there was gorgeous beach and untouched dunes up to about halfway to the horizon, where they gave way to launch towers and the Vehicle Assembly Building. The effect was really cool.

“Beautiful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 May 2014

It is a beautiful beach. You pay $5.00 or $35 for an annual pass. It is well worth it. It is not over populated by beach goers, which makes it more comfortable. You can grill on the beach as long as you clean up any messes. Only downfall is that it closes at 6 pm.

“The Real Beach”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2014

We enjoy the sounds of the ocean and birds and appreciate being where there are not many people. This is Playlinda Beach. It is set up with about 13 parking areas right beside the beach. Find the beach that is right for you. I have seen people fishing, walking, and shelling. Beach #13 is clothing optional. There are restrooms near the parking area. Nothing luxorious. But nature is the main attraction here.
