Canyon DeChelly Holiday Inn

The location was perfect for visiting Canyon DeChelly. You could get any closer if you tried the room was basic but clean. Pool looked nice. Restaurant closed early because it was July 4th. No other restaurants in the was a pretty deprived Indian Reservation. Can't buy any alcohol in the area. Took a tour of the canyon with Ben who lives in the canyon all his life. It's one of those things that you have to do if your there. You'll probably never come back and should experience the canyon if you come all the way here. Your only allowed in the cannon on a private tour. Two hours would have been adequate. Bens jeep got stock in the sand and we tried to push it out. Thankfully another truck arrived and did the job for us. We could still be there today teting to get unstuck. It was an adventure A great way to see the ruins and learn more about history first had. Ben was a good story teller.

I was not expecting much but this was pretty nice considering it was in Chinle. It's just outside the entrance of Canyon de Chelly which is the reason to stay here alone. Its nice having a restaurant on-site but service is very slow so be prepared to wait. You will need to pay for breakfast as it is not included. The housekeeping was great and I appreciated the cleanliness of the room. The may be some issues with the water which was yellow occasionally so you may want to bring your own. The grounds are very nicely landscaped and the pool was clean. The whole place is relatively quiet and peaceful. Note that liquor is not allowed on Native lands so there is none for sale in town so come prepared or better yet enjoy the canyon with a clear mind.

Room Tip: Ask for ground floor, there are no elevators.

We stayed here because of its close proximity to Canyon de Chelly in Navajo lands. It is very close to the visitor center and tour guides pick you up here. The room was clean , large enough with a comfortable bed and good shower and bathroom. There is also a nice pool which we did not use. No free breakfast but it was good and reasoable. The dinner was so/ so but probably the best in town. The staff were courteous and helpful. Be aware that no alcoholic beverages can be served in Navajo territoty and the closest place to buy in 90 miles. So if you want alcohol bring your own.

Checked in during the afternoon and no complimentary coffee was available(usually have a cup after a long drive). There is no breakfast, but it can be purchased at the onsite restaurant. Usually, if a restaurant is on-site, a chit is included for a complimentary breakfast.

Room Tip: The attached restaurant has slow service and average menu and fare.

Dear Vic L ,

Thank you very much for taking the time to write about your recent experience with us. Your review is vital for improving the service and quality we offer to our valued guest. As for the breakfast, free continental breakfast is offered at our Holiday Inn Express chains, I see that you have stayed in a Holiday Inn which is a full service hotel. They offer a variety of services and amenities such as full service restaurants and swimming pools. Every Holiday Inn hotel has a Restaurant, a relaxing Lounge and provides daily Room Service. It is always hugely motivating when one takes the time and trouble to acknowledge or give points for improvement. We hope to get the opportunity of welcoming you back in the future.

Thank you once again for your valuable comment, and if you might have any suggestions that will contribute to enhancing your stay, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,

We stayed here for one night so we could take a tour of the canyon. We were allowed to check in early and that was nice as there is not a lot to do in Chinle outside of the National Monument. At check-in, we were told the restaurant would be open until 1 PM, which gave us time to stow our bags, freshen up a bit, and get some lunch. We arrived at the restaurant 30 minutes before we were told it would close only to find it had already closed. They said it was slow so they closed the restaurant and we were forced to get back in our car and find a place to eat lunch in Chinle. Other than this initial problem, our stay was fine as was the room and the staff. The hotel is clean, staff friendly and helpful, beds comfortable, and the restaurant has satisfactory food (when open). Good choice n a place to stay if visiting Canyon De Chelly.

Older building , but very well maintained. Staff continually working to keep the building in good repair. Our room on the second floor facing the pool was very clean and comfortable. Great king bed. Had a little balcony, but no chairs. Restaurant had very good food. Blue corn pancakes are not to be missed. As was the fry bread tacos. Prices comparable to other hotel restaurants. All the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Enjoyed our stay while visiting the canyon. Would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Try to choose a room toward the back of the hotel. Very quiet.

It was a surprise to find such a lovely, well-run hotel after our 4 hour drive across Arizona to visit Canyon de Chelly, which is a gem in itself. The check-in went smoothly; I asked for a room overlooking the pool, and was able to get one. The room was clean, the beds very comfortable, the bathroom very nice with toiletries, the pool very refreshing in the heat of the summer; an oasis in a nicely landscaped area. And all so very peaceful and quiet. The restaurant was good; we enjoyed our fajitas in the evening, and breakfast in the morning. We got up very early (5:00am) to walk to the "white house" pueblo remains in Canyon de Chelly before the heat of the day got uncomfortable for climbing out of the canyon. A magical experience, no one around. So we had no complaints. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
