“Clean and Comfortable!”
Reviewed 22 August 2014

I have stayed here at least a half dozen times over past dozen or so years and there have been some nice upgrades since my last stop. This is and has been a nice, family run roadside motel right on the main road.

There are three buildings here and this stay I stayed in one of the newer two story buildings in the "lodge". The rooms are large and new to me was the large flat screen TV and an actual Keurig coffee machine. They provided green mountain kcups but if I had been in town for more than a short visit I might have brought some other varieties from home. The ice machine is back by the office but there is a fridge in the room so I didn't try that out.

Another great feature of the lodge bldgs is a small back deck or patio. There are two chairs and a small short table just enough for a few drinks. This small outdoor area is great for morning coffee or a drink at the end of the day.

We didn't make use of either pool but they look like nice features. We were looking for clean and comfortable to rest up for the next day's adventures and this place gets the job done nicely. Our room was on the first floor with rooms on both sides and above but didn't have any complaints about hearing people coming and going.

Another nice bonus is that they have a nice website with on-line availability searches and booking. Since I am often planning my time off either late at night or very early in the morning before work I this is a feature I very much appreciate.

This was the first time we stayed here. Couldn't get into the two other places we usually stay because of late booking. South fleet motel and the eventide are better but book up fast. We picked this place based on reviews and the fact it was newly renovated. It was clean and new inside but nothing overly fancy. Low water pressure but plenty of hot water. Would have given five stars except for the fact that when we tried to check in 17 minutes early we were told we would have to wait 17 minutes!! Pretty sure the room was ready...never had a problem with early check in before. Also wasn't happy with the fact that on our second night stay the alarm clock was set for 1am...disgruntled maid?? Overall not a bad place to stay....would always check the other two places first.

Room Tip: Try to request first floor if you are coming with lots of beach stuff and beware being next to noisy...

My wife and I decided to stay here again, and it was just as good as the first time. We made our reservation through the Motel's web site, with no issues. We booked a "Queen with a sofa" room. It was clean and comfortable. We'll try to make this our number 1 pick for our weekend getaways to the Cape from now on. Friendly staff, on site resturant, and close to everything we enjoy on the Cape. If you do decide to have breakfast at the resturant, get there early, it's small and gets busy at times, so you might have a little wait, but the food is worth it.

I have to say the best first: The salt water pool is wonderful! As for everything else, the grounds are meticulously maintained and the service in every instance was courteous, respectful, friendly and helpful. The decor is 80's and a little dull and although the bathroom was recently overhauled completely so that everything was spotless, my only issue with the place was in the bathroom: the heating element near the floor had unsightly rust flaking. The hot water was good and hot with strong pressure so you got a good shower. The bed linens were clean but a bit worn and the carpet, while apparently clean, seemed a bit musty. (The musty smell went away when we opened our patio door.) The view was gorgeous, into a field out back. They have landscaped it so that you feel your space is very private and cozy. I don't think it is a place for romance; rather, it was a family place during our stay and although there were lots of young kids, we were not bothered by any noise. It is a sturdy and hospitable spot to house your family, and the prices are quite reasonable so you an afford to stay there and then travel 25 minutes to P'town. They do not have movie rental and you have basic cable & HBO, but no on-demand. The wi-fi is fast and never failed. Nearby restaurants were fine although we did enjoy driving to Orleans and to P'town to eat as well. We plan to go there next summer, for sure. Other than the carpet and the rusty heating element, it was great. Almost excellent!

Room Tip: Get a room away from the road. Ask them if they can air it out before you arrive. They are so helpfu...

Green Features: There was no excess wasteful plastic. Towels were changed if used, but there were no extra towels which was fine. Fluorescent bulbs were used in all fixtures.

If you're looking for a clean, friendly vacation spot, with access to the Cape Cod Bike trail and both the town and federal beaches, this is the place. We rode our bikes every morning a few miles to LeCount Hollow road where there is the best French bakery this side of the Eiffel Tower! PB Boulanger offers croissants, pain de raisin and other goodies as well as Croque Monsieur, quiche lorraine and lots of breads. The motel also offers a high quality breakfast which we highly recommend. We opted for the town beach on LeCount Hollow Road, which is close, not too crowded and beautiful. The motel is close to the town of Wellfleet where there are lots of good restaurants, galleries and a playhouse where we saw a very high quality play written and directed by the former writer of the Cosby Show. The accomodations at the WEllfleet Motel are simple, but clean and everything you need for a great vacation.

Room Tip: The rooms to the back of the property are very quiet.

My daughter-in-law to be booked a block of rooms here and most of the older members of the groom's family stayed here for 3 days around the wedding. We were able to have an informal family reunion in the restaurant patio area one night after it closed. One family member had a suite so we spent time there. Some of the grandkids who were camping near-by came for a swim.

My husband and I got the breakfast package which I recommend. But we all ate at Harrigan's every morning. They have yummy breakfasts - full breakfasts - not a continental buffet.

Like much of the Cape it is difficult to get around without a car so be warned. We luckily had enough vehicles to transport carless people around most of the time.

I think we all enjoyed our stay here.

Room Tip: Ask for a second story room with a balcony.

Green Features: You could keep your towels for a second day which is good.

Located in South WellFleet, This Motel has two entrances - The Wellfleet Lodge and the WELLFLEET MOTEL. This is one and the same place. Usual minimum night stay in the summer is 3 nights, unless there is an off chance there is a single night available. Of course, during the summer, rates are high. We stayed in Room 69, located on the second floor. This is one of two suites, located at the back end of the parking lot where it is quieter. The room contains two comfortable queen/full beds and a separate room with a pill-out. Both rooms have cable television, WI-Fi and plugs for charging. A refrigerator is also in the room upon request. The area is very safe and the grounds are kept nice. There is an area in the courtyard for the kids to throw a frisbee. There is no smoking on the grounds, but if you DO smoke, you are allowed to smoke at the end of the parking lots. There is NO AAA or AARP discounts during summer season. The Motel has a small indoor and a small outdoor pool. The outdoor pool closes at 8pm, and the indoor one at 9 pm. There is a restaurant in the office area that serves breakfast for a charge. The owners are kind and willing to help if there is anything you need. They are a bundle of information and show true concern if something needs attention in your room. At first arrival, the room smelled musky, and there was a dead pavement ant in it, but once the AIR CONDITIONER... YES ! AIR CONDITIONER was on, the musky smell went away - we were warned this may occur due to the cool breezes at night and damp air. No bed bugs were sighted, nor were there signs of any. For 50.00, you can acquire a 3 day pass for local beaches from the front desk. For 40-45.00 you can obtain a STATE beach pass. Beaches are within 10-20 min away, depending upon which beach you want to go to . Dunkin Donuts is 2 miles up the road, give or take and there is also a BEN and Jerrys and small convenient market located in Dunkin Donuts parking lot :) Convenient to the Audibon trail, as the entrance is across the street. Located less than a quarter mile down the road is an honest to goodness WORKING DRIVE IN theater !!!!! Good place for families who want the conveniences of tv, internet and air conditioner.

Room Tip: Corner suite sleeps 5, quiet and by woods

Green Features: No garbage was sighted on the property - very conscious about a clean area.
