“Extraordinary selection of unique items”
Reviewed 30 September 2013

There are many great shops in Wellfleet, but this place (actually 2, an art gallery near the pier and a shop with jewelry and clothes on Main Street) is exceptional. Amazing jewelry, scarves, glassware, pottery, etc. Left Bank could put a serious dent in your wallet. And unlike many galleries, the staff is welcoming and cordial.

“Terrible attitude, unhappy visit”
Reviewed 30 September 2013 via mobile

This has been one of our favorite Cape galleries for years, and we almost always buy a memorable piece of art, but not thus time! we went explicitly to buy a lare Michele d'Angelo painting, but after encountering the rudeness of this woman, we left without the painting.

First, it is one of the largest galleries on the Cape and usually has a wonderful collection, particularly of large paintings, although It is a definitely multimedia gallery, with a smaller gifty crafts in the back overlooking a lovely march pond. The exhibitions are hung well and if you are a collector, it's a treat. All manner of genres and context, not just marine works.

This day we entered, smiled and said hello to the owner who was sitting at her station alone. With an unfriendly look, although we have spent a lot here, she barely nodded and looked away. She's never friendly, but this was blatantly rude.

An elderly lady dressed very nicely entered the gallery with a small group. which has pristine hardwood floors, in bare feet. The owner whipped over fast to bear the bad news that she had to leave because they don't allow allow people with " bare feet or no shirts" the latter being totally irrelevant. She was told abruptly with no finesse. The lady responded that she had an injury on the top of her foot and could not wear her shoes that day, but asked if she could wear one shoe on the good foot. No, the owner sais, you will have to leave immediately, and herded the woman to the door. It was a display of stunning rudeness and insensitivity. If it were necessary, it could have been better done.

When we approached her about the painting we wanted, and asked tge price, she hautily answered that it was costly and insinuated it would be beyond our means . We left.

The gallery is lovely. Sadly one sees it through jaded eyes. Her unpleasant presence weighs heavily on your visit. It's as if something is sadly wrong with her. We've not seen this in the past here, but it left bad karma.

“Very interesting gallery in Wellfleet”
Reviewed 10 April 2007

Handcrafts of every kind. I bought a couple of presents there for my mother and for someone else four years ago, finally I decided to keep the second present for myself, and my mother still tells me that this has probably been her favourite present up to now! They had many different and curious things to buy, probably more expensive that in Provincetown's main street tourist shops, but they really worth it!

“something for everyone”
Reviewed 6 July 2003

Been to Cape Cod many times but never visited "downtown" Wellfleet.
Cape Cod is ripe with galleries which have beautiful things but are way out of my pricerange. Went into the Left Bank Gallery on Commercial Street and was met with an unpretentious gallery of paintings, sculptures, pottery, etc. Truly something for everyone. Found a gorgeous pottery platter for only $85 and that's a bargain compared to what I'd seen. I'd been to several pottery shops but this encompassed the best of the pottery artists from around the region. Well worth a trip!
