Description: Closed for the winter. See you May 2017 When we first opened Moby Dick’s in ‘83, we had no idea we’d become an establishment on Cape Cod. We simply wanted to start a BYOB restaurant that had fresh seafood, a relaxed environment, and a friendly staff that would make people feel at home. Well, three decades later, we’re still doing exactly that, opening every season in May to the delight of locals and visitors alike. Some people stop in for our lobster rolls while others come for an old-fashioned bucket of steamers. But everyone knows they can come to us for fresh family fun and a dining experience in Wellfleet they'll never forget.

“Decent seafood”

It's a nice seafood restaurant and number of choices is not limited. Even though we waited half an hour, it was worth it. Baked potato and the corn served as sides were excellent.

My daughter and I were out here for a soccer tournament and after much searching on travel sites decided on Moby Dick for our dinner. We both like seafood and were very happy with the crab cakes, seafood gumbo, and lobster with steamers. Tips: arrive early. Even this late in the season it was already starting to get crowded just after 5 p.m. The service is a little odd you have to wait in line to go in and then order at the counter and pay and then sit down and then your food is brought to you. You may order dessert from your table and they will charge your credit card again but you are not able to tip from your credit card you must tip cash. Also there is no alcohol here but I saw folks enjoying BYOB. Not sure if they charge corkage. Quirky setup but worth it everything was well done.

“Wonderful seafood”

Had scallops that were so fresh they could have jumped from the water onto the plate. Very lightly fried, but no breading, not greasy. The best we ever had anywhere!

Great seafood, terrific service, exactly what we were looking for. This place focuses on fresh, well-prepared seafood with a casual, family-friendly feel. You order at the counter and sit at picnic tables. The husband and wife owners are down-to-earth and stop to speak to every customer while clearing tables and taking orders. My husband and I were in Truro for a wedding, and we ate at Moby Dick's twice in two days - once getting up and leaving another restaurant after sitting down and realizing it had nothing on Moby Dick's

“A very good lunch choice on the outer portion of Cape Cod.”
Reviewed 8 October 2013

Traffic was all jammed up on the last few miles of road to Provincetown, so we hang a U and pulled into Moby Dick's for lunch. It has a large, crushed oyster shell parking lot and a very nautical theme. You order and pay at the lower level entrance, then your food is brought to you in the raised dining area. The décor in the dining area is also nautical and designed for lobster pigouts (not fancy tables and tablecloths). We sat on a portion of a long picnic table. They allow you to BYOB. My wife had a cup of clam chowder and a crabcake sandwich while I had the Moby Special, which is a burger plate. Everything was very good. The manager (or owner) was constantly hovering around the dining room making sure things were going smoothly and directing people to the right entrance (not necessarily clear when you walk up). The dining area is open with windows/screens all around. There's not a lot to see, but you feel that open, nearly-outside atmosphere. There are two coed bathrooms, which are clean. Prices were typical for comparable places. Our bill for the above mentioned items was $31. The waitstaff seemed to be mostly young British girls, unless I've got my accents wrong. In any case, they were very attentive. I recommend this place.
