“A Beautiful Place to Spend our Honeymoon”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 June 2010

We stayed at the Cameron House Inn for three nights -- and it was the perfect start to our honeymoon. The Inn is a beautifully renovated Arts & Crafts style home, and we fell in love with our room, The Featherstone Room. The furnishings were comfortable and luxurious, and little touches like the supply of sodas and fresh chocolate chip cookies really made us feel at home! We thoroughly enjoyed relaxing on the back porch with the cats in the evening, and breakfast in the sunny dining room was heaven! Thanks to Beth and Michael and their friendly staff for an unforgettable visit. We can't wait to return! Terri & Michael Ward, Slanesville, WV

This is the cutest B&B ever! Each room is styled with such character and Craftsman flair. We stayed with our dog in the Sandpiper Room which is in a different building than the main house but it was lovely and quiet and the smell from the jasmine wafted into our room. My parents stayed in the canopied-bed room on the 2nd floor of the main house. It was darling. The continental breakfast was tasty -- fresh fruit, great coffee, bagels, etc. The best part was the outdoor fireplace under the jasmine arbor with rocking chairs and the company of their friendly cats. The front porch swing was also nice. Our hosts couldn't have been nicer and I wouldn't stay anywhere else on a trip to the Outer Banks.

We had a wonderful experience when we stayed at the Camercon house in September for our friend's wedding. The entire wedding party stayed at the Cameron House. The facilities were very clean, and the staff very friendly. It was a very short walk to the waterfront restaurants and shops. We especially liked the outdoor fireplace that we retreated to after a few long days of fun. We would definitely stay there again.

After looking at all the accommodations in Manteo, we decided on the Cameron House Inn. We felt the rooms were superior to the other options (notably the White Doe Inn and the Tranquil House Inn). The rate was also more affordable. We couldn't have been more pleased with the attentiveness of the innkeeper and housekeeping. While the innkeeper is "absent"(she lives next door), she is readily available if you need her. In our experience, she was also unfailingly polite and helpful. We also felt that breakfast was more than adequate. It was not deluxe, but there was plenty of fresh fruit, cereal, yogurt, juices, breads, etc. It was better than a hotel, but perhaps not as wonderful as it could have been. I guess if you are looking for a handholding bed and breakfast experience, you might be a little disappointed. But we actually liked being attended to only when needed. For us, the things that always matter most are the cleanliness of the room and the comfort of the bed. The Cameron House Inn delivers on both counts. The bed was very very comfortable-firm but not hard, and the room and bathroom were spotless. (They also have nice toiletries in the bathroom.) The inn itself is well decorated in an arts and crafts bungalow style and the porches are great.

BUT what impressed us the most during our stay are two things that occurred that we were not anticipating. 1. During our stay, we were suddenly called home and had to leave a day early. The innkeepers were very understanding and did not charge us for that night. We didn't ask this of them. They just did it. Very classy. 2. As a result of our somewhat abrupt departure, my husband left his sandals behind. Shortly after he realized this (an hour or so out of OBX) his cell phone rang. Housekeeping called to tell us she had his sandals and would mail them to us. We insisted they send them at our expense. They sent them at their own expense and arrived at our house in three days.

Such wonderful attention and kindness deserves mention. We will only stay at The Cameron House inn in the future and will recommend it to all of our friends.

A very cute B&B and certainly very affordable for the Outer Banks/Manteo area. I was very surprised at the lack of personal service we received during our stay. We could have literally gone the whole time without seeing the owner(s). The breakfast was poor and I have had better at 3 star hotels...it was cereal, bagels, and a store bought pastry. The ice maker didn't work the entire time we were there so we had to keep going to the gas station to purchase ice. The room, however, was very nice and it was an attractive B&B. I probably will try other places before returning to this one, though. The location was great if you want to just stay in Manteo.

We decided to book the Cameron House because it looked quaint and had a great location for downtown Manteo, as it's only a short walk from the harbor.

Three of us stayed here; my wife and I and my mother-in-law. The rooms were great; my wife-and-I had an upstairs suite, whilst my wife's mother had a great ground-floor double.

The inn was really comfortable, although we were thrown at first because there was no-one there to meet us. Instead we were left to our own devices to find the rooms and make ourselves comfortable. Not a big issue, just a little odd.

In the morning, breakfast was a fairly meagre and impersonal buffet: muffins, cereal, coffee, fruit juice, toast & bagels. Nothing home-cooked or home-baked.

Having visited quite a few B&B's in North Carolina, from coast to mountains, we were a little disappointed by this.

The Inn is great. Very comfortable. Easy access. But the service just felt impersonal.

We had a wonderful time during our two-night stay at the Cameron House Inn. The house is absolutely beautiful and so comfortable. The cookies and endless tea/coffee/drinks/fruit/popcorn were a nice touch, as were the free bikes available, though we didn't have a chance to use them. We will certainly be back!
