We had a late Check in, but it went well. We rented a cabin and it was great!!!!!!! They told us to bring linen but they never said anything about towels, soap, etc. (the usual things you find in a room). So if you get a cabin bring ALL your own toiletries TG they did furnish tp or that would've been a problem.........nothing complimentary here. The food was really good. Not the best bbq I've ever had but in the top 3. Staff was friendly and accommodating tho. The bummer was the pool was totally shut down by 6 which sucked because we wanted to go after go after dinner went down and couldn't :-( over all it was pretty good. I'll be back.

Nice lg rv sites. Beautiful pool, clean restrooms and showers. But... every night around sundown untill sunrise there is the most awful stink. The first night I thought our holding tank had broke or we had some kind of sewer leak. I checked our rv over and couldn't find anything wrong. I then asked one of the work campers what the smell was & was told it was the near by oil fields. Long term campers informed us it's the parks sewer lagoon. It's so bad that even with all our doors and windows closed we were still awakened every night by the stink of poo. Our site wasn't even near the lagoon. The whole darn place smelled awful. The weather was beautiful and we were looking forward to being able to sleep with the windows open but couldn't do so because the smell was SO BAD! Wouldn't stay here again.

My husband and I stayed here with our 6 kids (3yrs - 10yrs old) in two of their cabins. The staff was helpful and accommodating. The property was great fun for the kids. We would definitely stay here again.

Very nice staff. Very nice and clean facilities, cabin, pool, laundry, and store. Very nice cabin with many amenities. Only downside: the beds and futon that made into a bed were hard. So bring egg crates or extra mats to soften them

Room Tip: If you will sleep more than 2 people, get the cabin that sleeps 6 so you will have more room.

For about twice as much as the average NFS campground, we got access to a nice bathroom with showers and flush toilets, a general store and nice K9 park for our dog. We didn't get privacy, quiet or a good night's sleep.

The KOA is about 18 miles north of Carlsbad. Greeted by a person who's personality was about as bright as her yellow shirt. Check in was slow as every detail of my life was recorded into the computer. Finally we were escorted to area about twice the size of my backyard that was more dirt and rocks than grass. We had taken the "basic" tent site as we did not need access to electricity. This area is designated to hold 10 tents. There was no physical separation between the "sites" and only a few trees on the edge. Fortunately there were no other campers in the area. Had this area been filled to capacity - you wouldn't be able to move without stepping on your neighbors.

The biggest issue with this location of the "tenters' ghetto" was that it was next to the only road that goes in and out of the campground. Every 5th wheel and Winnebago drove by about 20' from our tent. Long into the night we heard the sound of large vehicles driving over the gravel road. It sounded like eating a bowl of Wheat Chex with a head cold. Finally the late check-ins would stop; but well before the first sign of pink would grace the eastern New Mexico sky, a long parade of America's finest recreational vehicles exited the campground - providing an endless source of crunching noise and rising much earlier than we had wished.

This would probably be a great place if you owned an RV. If you use a tent like us, keep looking.

Don't stay here if you expect to be valued as a "guest"As experienced RVers (we have a travel trailer) we have stayed at RV parks and campgrounds from coast to coast. We were traveling to Carlsbad with 2 friends recently without our travel trailer and decided to stay in a campground cabin to see what they were like. We reserved and paid in advance for a cabin with a bathroom as we are "mature" travelers and often need to use the bathroom during the night. We checked in, then immediately went to the caverns and stayed for the sunset bat flight and had dinner before returning to the cabin at 11 pm. Much to our surprise and dismay, the toilet in our cabin did not work. It would not flush - at all - and the water ran continuously. So after paying extra for a cabin WITH a bathroom, we found ourselves having to trek over to the campground bathrooms during the night. One trip to the bathroom found what looked like a homeless person with all his belonging parked outside the bathroom while he "cleaned up" inside (the bathrooms have no security locks) and the next trip there was a woman coming out of the mens' room (don't know what she was doing in there - but she was all wet!) When we brought the toilet problem to the attention of the OWNER the next day, we were told we should have called maintenance (don't know how you do this in the middle of the night with no phone in the cabin and no cellphone service). When we asked to be charged for a cabin with NO bathroom, we were told "not gonna happen" and "have yourself a nice day". We have never published a negative review before but guess that's because we've never been treated this rudely while experiencing a problem that is the fault of the provider. Try the Carlsbad RV Park or the Artesia RV Park.

We stayed here for a night on our way to Roswell. The cabins were clean, the staff were super friendly and all of the amenities were good. The pool and surrounding area was clean and a great place to hang out. The cabins were spacious enough and there was heaps of room around the cabins to have a cookout etc.
