Came across this restaurant last year after visiting Central Park and enjoyed brunch very much, so when we visited New York again this July we decided to return and we were not disappointed. There were four of us for lunch at around 2.00pm and luckily we did not have to wait (usually you need to book or the wait can be around 20 minutes and even longer for brunch on Sundays).
Even though there was plenty of free seating in the large dining room next to the small garden at the back of the restaurant, we were shown to a table in the corridor between the two dining rooms which we refused as it was really warm. We were then shown to a nice round table in the middle of the large second dining room which was brightly decorated and air conditioned. Our waiter was very friendly and was very knowledgable about the menu. We ordered and our food arrived promptly within 15 minutes. I had the tuna salad which was interesting and very tasty and the others had burgers which were cooked to perfection and one person had the vegetarian option which again was delicious. Drinks were replenished complimentary as is the custom in the US. Finding a restaurant to have a decent meal for lunch near Fifth Avenue and Central Park can be a nightmare and this is a really good option that I can strongly recommend. It is not a cheap option but nothing is cheap in New York City unless you eat fast food from one of the many vans, however, it is not expensive either. We paid around $25 including drinks each which in my opinion is very reasonable.
I shall definitely visit again when next in New York City.
