I used to live on 26th and 8th, work near Madison Square Park, and spend most of my time in the West Village. This was my default pizza place.
You will not find the $1.50 slices here, but that's because these slices are huge and full of good stuff. They also aren't the greasy slices you'll find elsewhere. The names and characters of the pizza are half the fun: the Newman, the Dude, Cleopatra Jones.
The place is usually crowded (but isn't every pizza place in New York), but there are a few tables, and odds are good that you will run into someone you recognize from a movie. Plus, you're a short walk from the water or from the coffee shops and bars in the Village.
Now we just need to get this place to open up on the west coast!
